Expectations for Shedeur Sanders were high even when he was still part of the Colorado Buffaloes and hoped to be selected among the top ten in the Draft.
Selected in the fifth round by the Cleveland Browns, those expectations not only did not decrease, but increased.

With no clear QB1 on the team and five players at that position, Kevin Stefanski will have to make a decision that will affect everyone. An Achilles tendon injury sidelined starting quarterback Deshaun Watson last year, forcing him off the field and causing him to miss the rest of last season and much of this one.
Joe Flacco, 40, is fighting for a chance and is one of the strongest candidates to remain the starter. Kenny Pickett, 26, also wants to finally establish himself as the team’s quarterback, but they are not the only ones with dreams to fulfill. Dillon Gabriel, 24, was drafted by the team with the 94th pick, and Shedeur Sanders, 23, with the 144th pick.
These four candidates are vying for the starting position, but there is one who has been in the public eye and could be seriously affected. That is Sanders.
The pressure on Shedeur
During an episode of their podcast “Get Got Pod,” Marshawn Lynch and Mike Robinson commented on the attention and pressure on Coach Prime’s son and how this could backfire on him.
Lynch, never one to mince words, stated that with all eyes and cameras on him, as soon as he walks outside, he will be filmed:
Every rep he does take, whether it’s minimal, if it’s two reps, or if it’s 10 reps, those motherf***ers are gonna be broadcast. And they’ll run that b***ch for 30 minutes on repeat back there, the same two motherf***cking reps at 40 different angles.
His co-host fully agreed with Lynch that this will have a negative impact on how people in Cleveland perceive him. In other words, Robinson explained:
What you’re saying is, because the public puts him on camera and his name comes out of their mouth a lot, they’re literally making the football decision for the football people in Cleveland.
The truth is that Sanders is being scrutinized like no other fifth-round draft pick has ever been, by fans, the team, the press, and sports personalities. And although his father, aware of this, tried to prepare his sons to cope with the public eye, he did not expect it to be so intense and so early. It’s a vicious cycle, and Sanders is caught in the middle.
