A Era Ancelotti começa hoje (5). A seleção brasileira estreia seu novo técnico contra o Equador nesta quinta-feira (5) às 20h (horário de Brasília) no Monumental de Guayaquil, pela 15ª rodada das Eliminatórias da Copa do Mundo. Tostão trouxe as suas expectativas para a primeira partida do técnico italiano no comando do escrete canarinho.
Em sua coluna na “Folha de São Paulo”, o tricampeão mundial em 1970 questionou a qualidade individual dos jogadores do Brasil, opinando que a safra atual não é das melhores. “Temos apenas dois jogadores que estão no nível dos melhores do mundo, Vinicius Junior e Raphinha”, escreveu o ex-atacante, complementando que o camisa 11 do Barcelona não atuará contra o Equador por estar suspenso.
Além da dupla, Tostão também colocou apenas Alisson e Marquinhos como destaques em suas posições no Velho Continente. “Todos os outros convocados são bons, porém no mesmo nível de tantos outros espalhados pelo mundo”, observou.

Ao mesmo tempo, o colunista contestou o retorno de Casemiro à seleção brasileira diante do Equador. Carlo Ancelotti voltou a convocar o experiente volante do Manchester United, que foi pouco utilizado no escrete canarinho depois da Copa do Mundo de 2022. Mesmo que seja um homem de confiança do treinador desde os tempos do Santiago Bernabéu, Tostão não acredita que o estilo do camisa 5 irá agregar a qualidade necessária ao time.
“Receio que falte a Casemiro, valorizado por Ancelotti pelo que jogou no Real Madrid, a mobilidade que se exige atualmente de um grande jogador de meio-campo”, analisou Tostão, temendo que Ancelotti tenha criado uma ‘expectativa acima da realidade’ ao aceitar o desafio no país pentacampeão do mundo.

O eterno craque do Cruzeiro ressaltou faltar ao futebol brasileiro melhores opções nas duas laterais, além de possuir carências também no meio-campo e na função de centroavante. Entretanto, o colunista reforçou que todas as seleções do mundo também apresentam deficiências, o que torna o Brasil candidato ao título da próxima Copa do Mundo. “Aumentam as chances com Ancelotti”, pontuou.
Por fim, Tostão demonstrou curiosidade sobre a forma como Ancelotti irá escalar a seleção brasileira. O comentarista frisou que uma das possibilidades é o técnico retomar o trio de meio-campistas que Casemiro integrou no Real Madrid ao lado de Modric e Kroos. Outro esquema possível é o com dois volantes, dois ponteiros, um meia centralizado e mais um camisa 9.
