O atacante Róger Guedes acumula boas passagens por Palmeiras, Atlético-MG e mais recentemente no Corinthians, onde ficou entre 2021 e 2023. Formou uma ótima dupla de ataque com Yuri Alberto, mas encerrou a sua passagem pelo Timão em agosto de 2023, aceitando uma proposta milionária do Al-Rayyan, do Catar.
Desde então, Guedes teve a possibilidade de retornar ao futebol brasileiro, como o próprio jogador admitiu em uma entrevista ao “ge”, revelando ter sido procurado por quatro times. “Sempre me procuraram. O Flamengo, o Atlético-MG, agora com o Cuca, o Cruzeiro, por eu ter trabalhado com o Leonardo Jardim. O Corinthians sempre tentou esse meu retorno também”, contou.
O atacante, então, disse que ainda tem o sonho de atuar na Europa e que se optar por retornar ao Brasil, pretende dar prioridade ao Corinthians. Para ele, ser campeão com a camisa corintiana ainda é um sonho. Em 2022 e 2023, chegou próximo de vencer a Copa do Brasil, mas o Timão perdeu na final e na semifinal, respectivamente.
Já recusou propostas pelo Corinthians
Na mesma entrevista, Róger Guedes deixou claro que sempre teve o desejo de jogar no Corinthians. Ele conta, então, que antes de acertar com o Alvinegro, recebeu oferta do Flamengo, Atlético-MG, Grêmio e Palmeiras, mas optou pelo Timão, que havia feito a menor proposta. Na época, ele estava no futebol chinês e já tinha atuado por Galo e Verdão, onde foi campeão Brasileiro.

Em outro trecho da entrevista, o atacante foi questionado sobre nunca ter vestido a camisa da seleção brasileira, se isso era um motivo de frustração. De forma sincera, ele entende que merecia ter sido convocado. “Já mereci ir e não me levaram. Uma vez que eu mereci foi na época que estava no Galo. A outra foi pelo Corinthians em 2023. Acabaram levando até o Rony, o próprio Yuri Alberto, eu fui o artilheiro do Paulistão e acabei não indo”, opinou o jogador.
Por fim, Róger diz que ainda tem esse sonho, mas entende que é algo distante e, por isso, não fica se preocupando com essa questão. “A gente sabe que é praticamente impossível convocar alguém do Catar. Mas, como eu também aqui no Brasil fui bem e não fui, não é uma coisa que eu não durmo por causa disso, é uma coisa que eu não ligo muito”, finalizou.
Carreira do atacante
Revelado pelo Criciúma, Róger Guedes chamou atenção do Palmeiras, que contratou o jogador em 2016, com apenas 19 anos. Ainda desconhecido, o atacante rapidamente se destacou e ganhou a posição de titular, sendo campeão Brasileiro daquele ano. Em 2018, após alguns desentendimentos com o elenco, foi emprestado ao Atlético-MG. No mesmo ano, o Verdão vendeu o jogador para o Shandong Taishan, da China. Em 2021, retornou ao Brasil para jogar no Corinthians, até ir para o Catar, em 2023.
