Syndication: Worcester Telegram Red Sox top prospect Roman Anthony gets ready for an at-bat during a WooSox game on April 13, 2025 at Polar Park.

Roman Anthony, the top prospect in baseball, did something Saturday night that Aaron Judge never has done. Shohei Ohtani, neither.

The 21-year-old Anthony, an outfielder in the Boston Red Sox farm system, launched a 497-foot home run for Triple-A Worcester. The grand slam was the longest home run hit this season in not only the minors, but in the majors, too.

In fact, MLB.com reported that since 2015, only four players — all in the majors — have hit a home run that traveled farther than Anthony’s ball: Giancarlo Stanton, Christian Yelich, Nomar Mazara and C.J. Cron.

The Worcester Red Sox were leading 5-4 at home against Triple-A Rochester when Anthony smashed the 91.1 mph sinker over the fence in right-center field.

“That ball was murdered,” Worcester manager Chad Tracy told the local Telegram & Gazette.

Before Anthony’s homer, the 484-foot homer belted by Mike Trout of the Los Angeles Angels on April 19 against the San Francisco Giants was the longest-hit ball of 2025.

Red Sox fans are waiting eagerly for the Red Sox to call up Anthony. A second-round pick in the 2022 MLB Draft, Anthony is hitting .290 with 44 runs, 10 home runs and 29 RBIs over 57 games played.

The WooSox beat Rochester 10-4.

Braves takeaways: After 14th loss in 17 games, manager and players still searching for answers

SAN FRANCISCO — If anyone was surprised to see the Atlanta Braves lose 4-3 Sunday to the San Francisco Giants, apparently they haven’t been watching the Braves play.Because lately, that’s what the Braves do: They lose, usually by one run. They have lost 14 of 17 games, their worst stretch since a 3-14 skid April 21-May 10, 2016. That was the week before Fredi González was fired and replaced by current manager Brian Snitker, who has helped develop a winning culture in Atlanta over the past seven years but is struggling mightily with this underperforming team and its flawed roster.AdvertisementThe Braves have a seven-game losing streak, matching the 0-7 skid they had to begin the season, the first time they’ve had multiple skids that long in a season since 2016. They are 10 games under .500 (27-37) for the first time […]

Spain wins New York Sail Grand Prix, becomes first repeat winner of SailGP season

NEW YORK — After a shaky start to its SailGP season, a Spanish victory at the New York Sail Grand Prix on Sunday shows that Diego Botín’s team is fully back on track.Botín’s group won the last event in San Francisco back in March, making them the first repeat winners of 2025 after there were five different winners in the first five events.AdvertisementWhile the cheer from the crowd on Governor’s Island was certainly loud for the jubilant Spanish, it had been just as big for the winners of the opening race of Sunday’s session, when Brazil crossed the finish in first place. As the first and currently only female driver in SailGP, two-time Olympic gold medalist Martine Grael made history as she steered her hydrofoiling F50 to the race win.Nor was that moment of Brazilian brilliance a flash in the […]
