Nos últimos dias, uma entrevista do lateral Renan Lodi sobre a seleção brasileira repercutiu bastante. Ao “Globo Esporte”, o lateral-esquerdo do Al-Hilal disse que merecia ter sido convocado para defender o Brasil nesta Data Fifa, aponta, sobretudo, que teve números melhores do que os laterais que foram chamados por Ancelotti. Lodi, então, disse não saber se realmente convocam quem merece, apontando um possível preconceito da CBF com quem atua na liga saudita.
Em entrevista ao “SporTV, o diretor de futebol da seleção brasileira, Rodrigo Caetano, respondeu ao jogador, entendendo que é uma reclamação legítima e dentro dos direitos do atleta. Sobre as coisas que foram ditas, como a questão de ter números melhores do que os convocados, o diretor minimizou a polêmica e disse que Lodi pode ter se equivocado na forma de se expressar.
Caetano ainda deixa claro que não há nenhuma restrição com quem atua em ligas menores, relembrando que o goleiro Bento, que também joga na Arábia Saudita, foi convocado. O diretor ainda revela que o lateral do Al-Hilal estava na pré-lista de Ancelotti, e, portanto, está sim no radar da seleção. Mas, deixou claro que não levam em consideração apenas os números. “Para cada uma das posições, especificamente, tem uma determinada exigência. Uma exigência física, de intensidade”, declarou.

Revelado pelo Athletico-PR, Renan Lodi foi para a Europa em 2019, quando atuou pelo Atlético de Madrid. Por lá, ficou até 2023, se transferindo para o Nottingham Forest. Depois, teve uma breve passagem pelo Olympique de Marselha, até ir para o Al-Hilal, onde joga desde 2024 e vive uma ótima fase, talvez a melhor da carreira.
Na última temporada, fez 37 jogos, quatro gols e nove assistências. E, de fato, são números superiores à Carlos Augusto e Alex Sandro, laterais convocados para defender a seleção brasileira. Carlos fez três gols, enquanto Alex apenas um. Quanto a assistências, o lateral da Inter de Milão deu quatro, enquanto o flamenguista apenas uma.
Em passes decisivos por jogo, Lodi tem uma média de 1,1, contra 0,3 e 0,8 de Carlos Augusto e Alex Sandro, respectivamente. Defensivamente, o jogador do Al-Hilal teve uma média de 3,9 bolas recuperadas por jogo, contra 2,2 de Carlos Augusto e 3,8 de Alex Sandro. Por fim, em desarmes por jogo, também há uma superioridade do ex-jogador do Athletico, tendo uma média de 1,7. Carlos Augusto teve 0,9, enquanto o jogador do Flamengo teve 1,1 de média na última temporada.
