For the first time since 2014, we’ve experienced consecutive overtime games in a Stanley Cup Final. Interestingly, the 2014 Final, featuring the New York Rangers and Los Angeles Kings, had the first game go to overtime before the second game went to double overtime. But there’s no way this year’s championship final could go to a third straight overtime game, right? The hockey world has been spoiled enough as it is with this year’s Cup Final.

This Cup Final has two future Hall of Famers and Stanley Cup winners in Corey Perry and Brad Marchand taking centre stage. Marchand and Perry are both first and second in most goals in the Cup Final among active players. Both men are also on active point streaks. Marchand has three goals and points in his last three games (all on the road), while Perry has three goals and five points in his previous four. If you’re banking on an elder statesman to deliver in Game 3, Perry and Marchand have brought it in recent games. There’s every reason to think that at least one of them could continue their string of stellar performances.
It’s Sergei Bobrovsky’s time to shine at home. He’s only had one game in his last four appearances at home where his save percentage dipped below .900. Maybe he’ll record the same stat line for a third consecutive game. Bobrovsky allowed four goals on 46 shots for a .913 save percentage in both Game 1 and Game 2. Stuart Skinner, meanwhile, won his last five consecutive starts until that Game 2 overtime loss. But he hasn’t lost consecutive starts since he lost his first three playoff appearances earlier this spring.
