Giannis Antetokounmpo ficou em terceiro na briga pelo MVP (melhor jogador) da atual da temporada, mas ganhou o primeiro lugar no coração dos cariocas. Sob os gritos de MVP, o pivô do Milwaukee Bucks inaugurou uma quadra reformada na Praça Claudio Coutinho, no Leblon, zona sul da cidade.
A manhã chuvosa na cidade não freou os ânimos. Centenas de pessoas, de adultos a crianças, rodearam a quadra na espera do craque. Entre eles, a atriz Regina Cazé com familiares. Ela trocou breve conversa com a mãe de Giannis, Veronica.
Além da mãe, o jogador veio acompanhado dos irmãos Thanasis, Kostas e Alex. Todos participaram da inauguração da quadra, personalizada com um grafite de Giannis. A ação, da casa de apostas Betano, também teve o pivô imortalizando suas mãos no cimento.
Os irmãos também inauguraram a quadra com arremessos e enterradas e participaram de atividades com influenciadores.
A família Antetokounmpo tem vivido todas as experiências possíveis no Rio. Já foram à praia, provaram feijoada, sambaram com a Viradouro e assistiram a Brasil x Itália, pela Liga das Nações de Vôlei, no Maracanãzinho.
