Menos móvel e mais goleador: Arthur Cabral deve entregar ao Botafogo características diferentes de Igor Jesus

Com Arthur Cabral já integrado ao elenco nos Estados Unidos e Igor Jesus vivendo seus últimos dias no Botafogo, o técnico Renato Paiva terá a oportunidade de, com os dois centroavantes à sua disposição, fazer uma espécie de transição no estilo de jogo da equipe. Ainda que ambos sejam atacantes de qualidade reconhecida pelo senso comum, é fato que Cabral e Jesus possuem características distintas nas maneiras como se movimentam e posicionam dentro de campo.

Restará a Renato Paiva, assim, potencializar cada um deles para tirar o melhor proveito possível ao longo do Mundial de Clubes, e principalmente de Arthur Cabral, que será o titular no restante da temporada.

— Ele (Arthur Cabral) tem características que eu admiro muito. Conheço muito bem. É um finalizador, um homem de área. Mas quero deixar um aviso: não é o substituto do Igor Jesus. Não tem nada a ver — frisou Paiva.

A menção do técnico português se justifica na diferença entre a principal característica de cada um dos centroavantes. Igor Jesus, por exemplo, se destaca pela boa mobilidade fora da área, qualidade técnica e explosão física. Não à toa, mesmo em menos tempo de carreira profissional do que o novo companheiro (sete temporadas contra dez), deu mais assistências: 24 a 22.

Retomada da confiança

Por outro lado, Arthur Cabral, considerado um exímio finalizador e com ótimo posicionamento dentro da área, tem melhor média de gols: 13,2 contra 9,7.

Ainda assim, é fato que o novo centroavante do Botafogo precisará retomar a confiança. Contratado por R$ 107 milhões pelo Benfica em 2023, Arthur Cabral marcou poucos gols no clube português. Foram 18 em duas temporadas. Além disso, o centroavante fez apenas três partidas como titular em 2025.

Na temporada 2024/2025, foram 34 jogos (sete gols e duas assistências), sendo sete desde o início. Mesmo que não tenha tido nenhuma lesão grave, Cabral perdeu a vaga no time titular para o grego Vangelis Pavlidis, que teve ótimos números.

De modo geral, as diferenças entre Igor Jesus e Arthur Cabral podem favorecer o estilo de jogo de Renato Paiva, que já assumiu preferir um centroavante que fique mais próximo ao gol. No Botafogo, por Jesus ser um atacante de mobilidade, o português chegou a optar por escalar dois homens de área juntos — essa, aliás, é uma possibilidade para o time durante o Mundial.
