Na visão do diretor de futebol do Flamengo, José Boto, o fato dos times sul-americanos ainda estarem em meio de temporada pode ser uma vantagem em relação aos fortes times europeus que já estão na parte final de seus compromissos, na disputa da Copa do Mundo de Clubes que terá início neste sábado (14), com a partida Inter Miami x Al Ahly.
Em entrevista coletiva nesta quinta-feira (12), em Atlantic City, local em que o time rubro-negro faz sua preparação para a estreia no Mundial, o dirigente português falou sobre a disputa. “É uma competição que pode existir uma regularidade. Os times sul-americanos serão postos à prova com os Europa e vice-versa. É óbvio que na Europa estão os melhores jogadores, técnicos e ligas. Eles estão um patamar acima da América do Sul”, iniciou Boto.
“Não quer dizer que nós, Flamengo, não vamos encarar os jogos para ganhar. Nós vamos. Mas temos que estar conscientes do grau de dificuldade de jogar com os times europeus. O fato de ser o final temporada da Europa pode trazer alguma vantagem para os sul-americanos”, completou o diretor flamenguista.
Na estreia da competição internacional, o time carioca terá como adversário o Espérance, da Tunísia, na próxima segunda-feira (16), às 22h (horário de Brasília), no Lincoln Financial Field, na Filadélfia. O Grupo D ainda tem o Los Angeles FC, dos Estados Unidos, e o Chelsea, da Inglaterra.
Elenco “europeu” pode ser diferencial do Flamengo
A montagem do elenco tem sido muito criteriosa para trazer reforços experientes e com bagagem na Europa, como é o caso do último jogador contratado, o meio-campista Jorginho, que atuou a carreira toda no Velho Continente, inclusive defendeu a seleção italiana campeã da Europa de 2020. Questionado se isso pode fazer a diferença nos duelos da Copa do Mundo de Clubes, Boto confirmou.
“É óbvio que sim (faz diferença). Nós nos propusemos a dar uma cara mais europeia, com boas práticas e rigor que existe mais na Europa do que na América do Sul. É muito importante ter jogadores com vivencia nas principais ligas europeias para transmitirem aos outros que nunca tiveram oportunidade. Isso é uma vantagem, não só para o Mundial, mas para o resto da temporada”, avaliou o diretor do Flamengo.
Clube não recebeu oferta por Gerson
Ainda durante a entrevista, José Boto falou sobre a situação de Gerson. De acordo com o dirigente, o Zenit não entrou em contato com o clube e nem pagou a multa contratual, que é de 25 milhões de euros (R$ 160 milhões). Até o momento, o Gerson é jogador do Flamengo, com todos os direitos e todos os deveres dos jogadores do Flamengo. Está motivado para jogar o Mundial e, se joga ou não, não é uma decisão minha, é do técnico”, disse Boto, de forma direta.
