There are tons of storylines to keep an eye on as we near the 2025 college football season. The Ohio State Buckeyes defending their national title is a big one. Bill Belichick‘s first season in the college game as head coach of the North Carolina Tar Heels is another. But Arch Manning and the Texas Longhorns can’t escape the national spotlight.
With Quinn Ewers heading to the NFL, the pathway is clear for Manning to shine at Texas under offensive-minded head coach Steve Sarkisian. There’s still a bit of ambiguity when it comes to just how good Manning can be, but everyone is expecting offensive fireworks. If everything goes to plan, Manning could bring in thousands of new fans for the Longhorns.

ESPN: “Arch Manning will be the most-watched player in the sport”
Adam Rittenberg of ESPN released a “Future Power Rankings” for the Top 68 teams in the country. Rittenberg is focusing on both the 2025 and 2026 seasons when delivering his rankings, so it’s notable that Texas ranks No. 1. In his explanation, he outlines several reasons for the ranking, but also dropped a strong claim: that no player will have more eyes on him than Manning.
“Manning will be the most-watched player in the sport entering the fall and seemingly has the talent to become a national awards contender. Simmons and linebacker Anthony Hill Jr. will be on the radar for top defensive honors, and safety Michael Taaffe, sophomore wide receiver Ryan Wingo and others are worth watching.“
While the Longhorns have plenty of talented players who are worth keeping several eyes on, it’s Manning who will be the biggest draw in the sport in 2025. That should put tons of national media coverage and eyeballs from every college football fan on Texas, as long as Manning is playing.
Fans from all corners of the nation want to see if Manning is the real deal, or if his last name has brought about a hype that isn’t warranted. Whatever happens, the Longhorns might be breaking viewership records in 2025.
