A novela se arrastou por várias semanas e acabou com a permanência do atleta no Inter.
Sem entregar o futebol que a torcida colorada imaginava, os torcedores do Internacional estão decepcionados e, portanto, acreditam que a saída de Thiago Maia possa ser um bom negócio para a equipe gaúcha. Além do Brasileirão, o Internacional também está na disputa de outras duas competições paralelas: a Copa do Brasil e a Copa Libertadores. Enquanto no mata-mata nacional o adversário será o Fluminense, de Renato Portaluppi, os gaúchos vão enfrentar o Flamengo de Flipe Luís valendo vaga nas quartas do certame continental.
