Adversário do Palmeiras na Copa do Mundo de Clubes, Al Ahly tem histórico de freguesia contra brasileiros

Alviverde vai encarar um velho conhecido no Mundial de Clubes, tendo o retrospecto a favor para vencer o jogo e encaminhar a classificação

Após empatar na estreia diante do Porto, o Palmeiras volta a campo pela Copa do Mundo de Clubes nesta quinta-feira (19), às 13h (de Brasília), contra o Al Ahly, principal clube do Egito e um dos destaques do continente africano. E este não é um duelo inédito para o futebol brasileiro e muito menos para o Verdão.

O Al Ahly já teve seis partidas contra times do Brasil em Mundiais de Clubes, sendo dois deles contra o Alviverde. E o retrospecto é bem negativo para os egípcios. A única vez que ele não perdeu foi justamente contra o Palmeiras, na disputa de terceiro lugar na edição de 2020. O jogo terminou 0 a 0 e a vitória veio nas penalidades.

Al Ahly contra brasileiros no Mundial

O primeiro confronto aconteceu em 2006, no segundo ano em que o torneio passou a ter times de todos os continentes. Então, o Al Ahly enfrentou o Internacional na semifinal e perdeu por 2 a 1, com gols de Alexandre Pato e Luiz Adriano. Na final, o Colorado venceu o poderoso Barcelona por 1 a 0 e conquistou o título.

Depois, o Al Ahly foi novamente pé quente para um brasileiro, que acabou sendo campeão. O Corinthians enfrentou os egípcios na semifinal e venceu por 1 a 0, gol marcado por Paolo Guerrero. Com isso, o Alvinegro foi à final e superou o Chelsea por 1 a 0, também com gol do atacante peruano, garantindo o bicampeonato.

Em 2022, fez um jogo movimentado contra o Flamengo na disputa de terceiro lugar, mas acabou perdendo por 4 a 2. Os gols brasileiros foram de Pedro e Gabigol, com ambos marcando duas vezes. Os africanos chegaram a ficar na frente do placar, abrindo 2 a 1, mas o Mengão mostrou seu poder de reação no final e virou.

Pela semifinal do Mundial de Clubes de 2023, o Fluminense enfrentou o clube do Egito e venceu por 2 a 0, com gols de Arias e John Kennedy. Na decisão, porém, o Tricolor carioca perdeu para o Manchester City por 4 a 0 e ficou com o vice-campeonato, na única vez em que disputou o torneio organizado pela Fifa.

Os duelos contra o Verdão

A primeira vez que Palmeiras e Al Ahly se enfrentaram foi em 2020, na disputa de terceiro lugar, após o Verdão ter perdido na semifinal para o Tigres. Então, as equipes empataram em 0 a 0 e decidiram nos pênaltis, com o clube brasileiro tendo dificuldades neste quesito e desperdiçando três cobranças. Os africanos acabaram vencendo por 3 a 2.

Então, no ano seguinte, o confronto aconteceu na semifinal, com o Alviverde fazendo um ótimo jogo e vencendo os egípcios por 2 a 0, com gols de Raphael Veiga e Dudu. Na decisão, porém, o time comandado por Abel Ferreira perdeu para o Chelsea na prorrogação, por 2 a 1, ficando com o vice-campeonato.

Palmeiras na Copa do Mundo de Clubes

O Palmeiras está no grupo A do Mundial de Clubes, que tem, além dos egípcios, o Porto e o Inter Miami. Na estreia, o clube brasileiro empatou em 0 a 0 com os portugueses. O outro confronto do grupo também terminou 0 a 0. Agora, o Verdão fecha a primeira fase enfrentando o Al Ahly na quinta (19) e o Inter Miami na segunda (23).
