On June 18, 2025, concerns swirled online after Florida radio host “Bubba the Love Sponge” claimed that 71-yearold wrestling icon Hulk Hogan was critically ill and nearing death.
However, Hogan‘s camp quickly countered that these allegations were unfounded and that the WWE Hall of Famer is well on the mend after a planned medical procedure.
Despite Bubba’s assertion: “I got some pretty reliable information… they might not make it”, Hogan‘s spokesperson clarified the situation. Yes, the wrestler was in hospital, but only for routine treatment of persistent neck and back issues.
He is “by no means on his deathbed” and has already regained mobility, the representative emphasized.
The hospitalization followed a minor neck fusion surgery performed last month, which aimed to alleviate nerve pain. Hogan reportedly experienced a “quick turnaround” and was back on his feet soon after.
Wrestling veteran Eric Bischoff later revealed that post-operation, Hogan was able to feel his hands for the first time in a while-a positive sign that the procedure helped restore nerve function.
Health issues and a history of surgeries
Throughout the last decade, Hogan has undergone multiple operations to address the wear and tear resulting from his storied wrestling career.
In various interviews, he has disclosed that between 2014 and 2024, he endured an extensive list of procedures:
- 10 back surgeries
- Replacements for both knees and both hips
- Shoulder operations
- Additional surgeries including neck fusions-totaling at least 25 surgeries overall
Kurt Angle‘s recent claim on his podcast that Hogan was “paralyzed from the waist down” and dependent on a cane was firmly rebuked by Hogan‘s team, who stressed that Angle had misunderstood or exaggerated the reality.
Hogan‘s rep also stated, “Everything is OK with him,” and confirmed that the wrestling legend can walk unaided.
Hogan was also spotted at a public event that same week, judging karaoke at his own bar in Tampa. Photos show him standing confidently without any support, further reinforcing the point that his condition is stable.
Beyond his health setbacks, Hogan has been keeping busy. He recently launched Real American Freestyle, a new independent wrestling league, set to premiere this summer in Cleveland.
Despite his physical challenges, those close to him describe his spirit as resilient: “It shocks me that he’s still capable of walking. He’s kind of a fighter…” remarked Eric Bischoff.
Fans across the world can breathe a sigh of relief. With routine medical care behind him and no critical emergency to report, Hulk Hogan appears ready to continue his next chapter-both personally and professionally.
