Ex-zagueiro do Palmeiras recebeu uma chance de Guardiola, com os Citizens vencendo por 2 a 0 o time marroquino na Copa do Mundo de Clubes
O Manchester City confirmou o favoritismo diante do Wydad Casablanca. Um dos postulantes ao título da Copa do Mundo de Clubes da Fifa, os Citizens derrotaram a equipe do Marrocos por 2 a 0 nesta quarta-feira (18), no Lincoln Financial Field, na Filadélfia. Os gols foram marcados no primeiro tempo, por Phil Foden e Doku.
Pep Guardiola apostou numa formação mista, deixando nomes badalados como Haaland, Rodri e Bernardo Silva no banco de reservas. Ao mesmo tempo, o técnico espanhol escalou jogadores recém-contratados como Reijnders e Cherki, além do jovem zagueiro Vitor Reis, ex-Palmeiras.
O primeiro gol do Manchester City saiu logo com dois minutos de jogo, sendo o mais rápido da competição até aqui. Após conclusão de Savinho, o goleiro deu o rebote e Phil Foden mandou para o fundo do gol. A resposta do Wydad foi com uma tentativa de trás da linha do meio-campo que quase surpreendeu Ederson. O goleiro do time inglês também evitaria o empate no primeiro tempo após erro de Vitor Reis.
Mas os Citizens chegariam ao segundo gol aos 41 minutos da etapa inicial com Doku. O atacante belga aproveitou cobrança de escanteio de Foden para superar o zagueiro e concluir com pé direito na pequena área.
Haaland e Rodri foram lançados por Guardiola na etapa final
No segundo tempo, Guardiola colocou mais titulares em campo, como Haaland e Gundogan, além de Rodri. O meio-campista espanhol, eleito o Bola de Ouro de melhor jogador do mundo no ano passado, vem voltando aos poucos depois de se recuperar de lesão no joelho.
O Manchester City sustentou o resultado com tranquilidade, com o Wydad não oferecendo resistência. O lateral Rico Lewis, do time inglês, ainda levaria o cartão vermelho direto no final do jogo, após atingir com um carrinho o rosto de Obeng.
O jogo que irá fechar a primeira rodada da fase de grupos do Mundial de Clubes é o confronto entre Al Ain x Juventus, que completará o Grupo G. A partida será realizada nesta quarta-feira (18), às 22h (horários de Brasília), em Washington.
