Além das disputas dentro de campo, um dos destaques fora das quatro linhas da Copa do Mundo de Clubes é a música tema do torneio, “Freed from desire”, da cantora Gala, ou “nananana”, como ficou conhecida nas redes sociais. Embora criada há mais de 25 anos, a canção volta a fazer sucesso, principalmente no meio do futebol.

A relação da música com o esporte começou quando Sean Kennedy, torcedor do Wigan, então na terceira divisão inglesa, fez uma paródia para exaltar o atacante Will Griggs, que estava em boa fase.
Além de ganhar ingressos para acompanhar o time do coração no restante da temporada, Kennedy viu sua paródia dar uma sobrevida à canção original e fazer a canção do gênero eletrônico house music se espalhar por diversos países da Europa.
Tanto que “nananana” foi cantarolada diversas vezes na Copa das Seleções, em 2022, no Catar, pois a música acabou escolhida como opção para as comemorações dos gols das seleções de Polônia, Suíça e Inglaterra.
Notando o sucesso da canção nos últimos anos e a identidade que foi construída com torcedores, a Fifa fez o resgate no atual torneio, executando durante os jogos e eventos relacionados ao Mundial.
“Você escuta a música do Mundial de Clubes e lembra quando fazia a pré-festa antes de sair para dançar #FIFACWC”, escreveu um internauta.
Outro internauta escreveu que até mesmo a avó não conseguiu escapar da canção chiclete.
“A vovó não para de cantar a música do mundial de clubes”, escreveu.
A canção fez parte do primeiro álbum de Gala, “Come into my life”, lançado em 1997, quee emplacou outros dois hits além de “Freed from Desire”: “Come into my life” e “Let a Boy Cry”.
