After being dismantled in the last Super Bowl by the Philadelphia Eagles, Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are looking to climb back to the top of the NFL. However, it won’t be easy, especially in the AFC where there are highly competitive teams like the Bills, Ravens, Bengals, among others.
In betting houses, the Chiefs are favorites to reach the Super Bowl again. However, last year, despite their 15-2 record, many of their wins were fortunate, and Patrick Mahomes’ offense appeared stagnant for long stretches of the season. Even so, they managed to get the results and reached the big game for the third consecutive year.
Last season, Mahomes threw for 3,928 yards and 26 touchdowns – numbers that many would find solid, but for the Chiefs quarterback, they might not have been entirely satisfying. He’ll need to improve the offense in 2025.
Patrick Mahomes confident in Travis Kelce’s comeback
Travis Kelce’s production in 2024 fell short of expectations. The tight end totaled 823 yards and only 3 touchdowns – his lowest numbers in a decade. Despite that, he remains a crucial piece for the Kansas City Chiefs, especially for Mahomes.
Patrick Mahomes is not just a teammate but also one of Travis Kelce’s closest friends. The quarterback shared what he expects from the tight end: “I hope Travis is Travis… more than anything, it’s the leadership he brings to the building every day. He has a huge impact on our team,” he said on Sports Radio 810 WHB.
Despite the criticism, Travis Kelce said he hopes to work the way Taylor Swift does in her career as a singer. The tight end is committed to returning to his highest level.
“If she’s out there being the superstar she is, never accepting ‘no’ as an answer and working nonstop, I’ve got to match that energy too, no doubt.”
According to Pro Football Focus, Kelce went from being the top-ranked tight end to dropping to seventh place. However, due to his talent and mindset, he could rise back up and once again become the best at any moment.
