O duelo entre Paris Saint-Germain e Botafogo, pela segunda rodada do Mundial de Clubes, terá um ingrediente além quatro linhas: a “rivalidade” alimentada pelos seus dirigentes. John Textor, dono da SAF alvinegra e do Lyon, da França, e Nasser Al-Khelaifi, presidente do PSG, viveram meses de trocas de farpas e provocações.
Os dois dirigentes, no entanto, são responsáveis pelos projetos ambiciosos e investimentos pesados em seus respectivos times — o catari Nasser Al-Khelaifi está à frente do PSG desde 2011, enquanto John Textor é dono da SAF do Botafogo desde 2022. E, segundo um levantamento do Bolavip Brasil, Al-Khelaifi teve um impacto esportivo maior que o do americano.
Apesar de Textor ter elevado o patamar do Botafogo, o impacto de Al-Khelaifi no PSG é ainda mais expressivo, tanto em aproveitamento de pontos quanto em conquistas. Foram considerados todos os jogos que parisienses e cariocas já fizeram com as respectivas gestões: 751, no caso do PSG, e 226, no caso do Botafogo.
O Paris Saint-Germain disputou 751 partidas desde que foi comprado pelo Qatar Sports Investiments, em outubro de 2011, com um aproveitamento de 76,1%, e conquistando 11 títulos franceses em 14 temporadas e a Champions League em 2025. No mesmo número de partidas antes do investimento de Nasser Al-Khelaifi, o time francês tinha um aproveitamento de 53,3%.
No Botafogo, John Textor também fez com que o clube conquistasse um título continental, mas o desempenho nas partidas fica distante do PSG. Nos 226 jogos anteriores à SAF, o aproveitamento do time alvinegro era de 45,4%, e com a nova administração, esse número saltou para 57,2%. Além disso, o clube carioca se sagrou campeão brasileiro em 2024.
