The biggest storyline from the last NFL Draft was the case of Shedeur Sanders-something that will surely go down in the league’s history books due to how high-profile the son of NFL legend Deion Sanders has become. The quarterback was selected in the fifth round by the Cleveland Browns.

For several months leading up to the NFL Draft, Shedeur Sanders was a hot topic. He was projected to be a first-round pick, but oddly enough, teams in need of a quarterback ended up closing the door on him and choosing other players who, on paper, were considered to be below Sanders.
The New York Giants took Jaxson Dart, the Pittsburgh Steelers opted for a defensive player, and the New Orleans Saints selected Tyler Shough in the second round. These were the three teams most commonly linked to Shedeur Sanders, yet they ultimately passed on him.
Shedeur sanders has surprised at Browns camp
Shedeur Sanders’ case continues to raise questions-it’s unusual for a first-round prospect to fall all the way to the fifth round. Some reports suggested that teams were put off by how he handled pre-draft interviews, though no one knows for sure if that’s true.
What is clear is that whichever team picked Shedeur would be bringing a media firestorm into their franchise-and that’s exactly what’s happening with the Cleveland Browns. However, NFL insider Peter Schrager reported that the team has been pleasantly surprised by Sanders’ demeanor.
“I’ve heard he’s been excellent inside the building,” said Schrager on The Pat McAfee Show. “Nobody thought he was a problematic guy.”
Schrager acknowledged that it might have hurt Shedeur that he didn’t have an agent or chose to skip certain workouts, but nobody saw him as a bad person.
“This is a guy who’s been training to be a professional football player since the day he was born, and he’s ready for this moment,” Schrager added.
For now, Shedeur Sanders must continue to showcase his personality and mindset. There’s no doubt he has talent, but now he has to prove that he can climb the depth chart in the quarterback competition, as Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and rookie Dillon Gabriel are currently ahead of him.
