No todo fueron alegrías en el Benfica. El equipo lisboeta se medía a la ‘Cenicienta’ del Grupo C, el Auckland City, en un encuentro que tuvo que retrasar el inicio del segundo tiempo por tormenta eléctrica. Y ya van cuatro partidos. El caso es que uno de los pilares del Benfica, Orkun Kökçü, no se tomó bien ser sustituido.
Corría el minuto 61 cuando el medio turco fue cambiado. Una decisión que no le gustó en absoluto y es que nada más ver su número reflejado en el electrónico, el jugador del Benfica comenzó a despotricar hacia el banquillo, en concreto a su entrenador Bruno Lage. El turco hacía señales hacía el técnico mientras salían palabras de su boca, de seguro, nada agradables.
Pero no se quedó ahí… Cuando se cruzó con su entrenador no hicieron contacto visual pero Kökçü seguía con su tremendo enfado cuando se sentó en el banquillo. Y cosas del destino. Dos minutos después, el propio Renato Sanches, que había entrado por él, marcó el tercer gol del partido. Momento en el que Bruno Lage dirigió la mirada a su pupilo y le dedicó unas palabras mientras se tapaba la boca.
El jugador respondió a su entrenador y se apreció cómo le mandó callar. Se vivió un momento muy tenso en la zona técnica entre ambos. No tuvieron que intervenir ningún miembro de la plantilla pero evidenció las altas pulsaciones que habían existían en Lage y Kökçü. El Benfica le metió seis goles al Auckland, más de la mitad de los que recibió ante el Bayern, pero la imagen del partido, quedó tristemente reflejada en el encontronazo entre Kökçü y Lage.
