„Vede nás. Je odolný, má hlad a vůli pořád soutěžit, ať už jde o jakoukoliv úroveň. Je to nejlepší hráč, jaký kdy tento sport dělal. Ale jeho odhodlání pořád vyhrávat je překvapivé,“ zmínil Javier Mascherano, trenér amerického Interu a bývalý Messiho reprezentační spoluhráč.
Rodák z Rosaria pomáhá mladším spoluhráčům na hřišti v mnoha ohledech, jde příkladem, hraje se zaujetím i lehkostí. „Rozumí každému okamžiku hry. Jeho rozhodování je v 99 procentech správné. Pořád má rychlost a je schopný porazit kohokoliv,“ prohlásil pro DAZN v roli experta portugalský obránce José Fonte.
