Since Mark Sanchez left the New York Jets in 2012, the Big Apple team has seen 14 different quarterbacks up to now. Sanchez, a USC product, was the last quarterback to have a positive run with the team, reaching two conference finals, but since then it has been a very complicated situation for the Jets.
Shilo Sanders roast his brother Shedeur for his recent speeding violations with the police
A couple of years ago, the Jets’ last big hope arrived-the future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers-but his tenure was very poor. In his first year, he got injured in Week 1 and missed the entire season, and the second year was disastrous in terms of team achievements. Despite that, Rodgers threw 28 touchdown passes and 11 interceptions.
The fans are totally desperate. Also, in 2021, they got excited about the first-round selection of BYU quarterback Zach Wilson, who ended up being a disaster and isn’t even on the team anymore.
The Jets dodged the bullet called Shedeur Sanders
Before the Draft, the New York Jets signed Justin Fields in free agency to a two-year contract. Fields was a first-round pick by the Chicago Bears in 2021. The contract was short, and there was speculation that the team might be interested in Shedeur Sanders or Jaxson Dart, both quarterbacks chosen by the Browns and Giants, respectively.
The New York Jets are fully committed to Justin Fields, and Christopher Kline of FanSided analyzed that the Jets made the right call by passing on Shedeur Sanders to avoid another “circus” like the one that developed around Aaron Rodgers.
“That said, many thought the Jets might draft a quarterback, just in case. Fields is only signed for two years and has yet to stand out as a franchise player in his previous stops. His time in Chicago was a mixed bag. He looked better in Pittsburgh but not enough for the Steelers to keep him on the field once 36-year-old Russell Wilson was ready. Taking Sanders-whom many still see as a first-round talent-in the third, fourth (or even fifth) round would have been seen as a totally sensible investment at the time. But think for a moment about the media circus that has surrounded the Jets for years, especially after Rodgers’ arrival.”
And he was right. Right now, Shedeur Sanders is grabbing all the headlines and attention in the Cleveland Browns due to his competition with other quarterbacks on the roster, such as Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and Dillon Gabriel.
