Jake Paul’s fast-rising boxing career is set for a new chapter this Saturday, June 28, when he steps into the ring with a familiar name in the sport: Julio César Chávez Jr. While Chávez Jr. may not be considered a dominant force in the ring today, he carries the legendary name of his father-“El César del Boxeo”-and that alone is reason enough for Jake Paul to take this fight seriously.
Paul, 28, made the transition from YouTube celebrity to professional boxer and currently holds a record of 11 wins and 1 loss. This weekend’s clash with Chávez Jr. is not just a spectacle-it has been sanctioned by the California State Athletic Commission, giving it official status as a professional boxing match.
That sanction adds legitimacy and a layer of seriousness to the fight, which will be held at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

According to California’s regulatory body, the bout will be contested under the following professional boxing rules:

- The fight is scheduled for 10 rounds, each lasting 3 minutes.
- There will be a 1-minute rest period between rounds.

The match will be officiated by certified judges and a referee appointed by the commission.
With the fight fully regulated, fans can expect a serious contest filled with intensity and real stakes-something more than the exhibition-style matches Paul has been criticized for in the past.
