Jetzt will er zeigen, was in ihm steckt – im deutschen Trikot.

Mets prospect Dylan Ross still hitting 100 mph after 2 elbow operations
At 6 feet, 5 inches and 250 pounds, Dylan Ross is “an absolute horse,” New York Mets senior vice president for player development Andy Green says.Just a few months into his first professional season, Ross has raced from High A to Triple A, with a big-league promotion looking like a distinct possibility at some point by the homestretch.AdvertisementRoss, a 24-year-old right-handed pitcher, possesses one of the hardest fastballs in the Mets’ farm system. He has hit 102 mph. There have been a few 101 mph readings, too. When overwhelming velocity isn’t enough, Ross unleashes a low-90s splitter that multiple evaluators referred to as “real.” He also throws a slider and a curveball. In 28 1/3 innings across three levels, Ross has a 2.54 ERA with 52 strikeouts and 16 walks (in 6 1/3 innings at Triple A, he has a 1.42 ERA […]

Follow Peak here.Midway through his junior season, Richie Saunders, a 6-foot-5 small forward at BYU, received an unexpected piece of advice from his head coach. Saunders was in the midst of a breakout season, which meant that endorsement offers were starting to surface. However, he worried about distractions, so he wanted to wait until the offseason.AdvertisementThat is, until Kevin Young, BYU’s first-year head coach, told him the financial component was worth prioritizing now.“He’s kind of helped me see, for example, being a professional basketball player, you have to have these kinds of conversations during the season,” Saunders said in March, during the Cougars’ run to the Sweet 16. “And it can’t detract from your focus, but you need to have […]

Why Mike McDaniel’s Dolphins offense could benefit from being a little boring
Miami Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel is one of the most creative play designers in the league. He’s a trendsetter to whom other coaches look to copy plays into their offenses. However, that ingenuity hasn’t translated into real success for the Dolphins. Even at their best, they’ve been a fun, explosive offense that lacks the necessary components to compete with winning teams.AdvertisementDespite making the playoffs two out of three seasons in McDaniel’s Dolphins’ tenure, he is on the hot seat. There have been questions raised about the team’s culture. Only the team knows how valid those concerns are, but the manifestations of a weak culture have been evident. The biggest one is their inability to beat winning teams. In McDaniel’s tenure, the Dolphins are 6-15 (.286) in the regular season against teams with winning records (0-3 in games when quarterback Tua Tagovailoa […]

Extreme heat is disrupting athletic events worldwide. Is sports ready for the future?
In Cincinnati, substitute players at the Club World Cup retreated to their locker rooms, choosing shade over the punishing gaze of the sun. In St. Louis, where oppressive humidity made it feel like 106 degrees, Cincinnati Reds shortstop Elly De La Cruz vomited on the field. And in London, play at Wimbledon was halted for 16 minutes as a spectator received medical assistance on the hottest opening day in the tournament’s storied history.AdvertisementIn recent weeks, no matter the sport or setting, one constant has connected competitions around the globe: scorching temperatures. How bad has it been?“Terribly hot,” Atletico Madrid midfielder Marcos Llorente said after a Club World Cup game in mid-June in Pasadena, Calif. “My toenails were hurting.”With the world’s most well-conditioned athletes hurting for relief, observers wonder how challenging conditions could become — and how the sports world will cope.“We […]
