O Craque Neto está convencido de que Palmeiras e Botafogo farão um duelo definido nos detalhes no próximo sábado (28), às 13h (de Brasília), no Lincoln Financial Field, na Philadelphia. Em prognóstico feito no “Os Donos da Bola” desta quinta-feira (26), o apresentador da Band palpitou que o confronto das oitavas de final terá definição nos pênaltis, dado o equilíbrio e a solidez defensiva ostentada pelos times.
No entendimento do ex-jogador, alviverdes e alvinegros se notabilizam pela qualidade defensiva de alto nível com suas respectivas duplas de zaga e o apoio ofertado dos volantes. Diante da importância do confronto, ele acredita que haverá um enorme receio de ambas as partes sobre arriscar no comando ofensivo, e possibilitar espaço ao adversário. Em uma hipotética disputa nos pênaltis, o comentarista disse apostar no avanço do time carioca.
“Do que eu vejo Botafogo e Palmeiras jogar, acho que vai até os pênaltis. É dois times que marcam pra caramba e não vão querer se arriscar em descer ao ataque. Vão ser os 90 minutos, mais 30 da prorrogação, e aí os caras vão estar mortos. Nos pênaltis, a gente sabe que o Palmeiras pipoca”, disparou o Craque Neto.

No programa da última terça-feira (24), o Craque Neto já havia prospectado classificação do Glorioso, mas não de forma apertada e com toda dramaticidade dos pênaltis. Na avaliação feita, o apresentador foi enfático ao alertar que, se o Palmeiras repetisse o futebol exibido nos jogos da fase de grupos, o Botafogo desponta como favorito. Segundo ele, o time carioca vem sendo melhor escalado e tem demonstrado um rendimento superior, encaixando sob o comando de Renato Paiva.
Ainda na opinião manifestada, o ex-jogador citou que o principal responsável para o Verdão não estar performando conforme o esperado é o técnico Abel Ferreira, pelas mudanças promovidas nas escalações, classificando que o português vem se ‘perdendo’ nas próprias decisões há algum tempo, e que isso afeta diretamente o clube palestrino nas competição copeiras, citando Copa do Brasil e Libertadores como exemplos.
Tabu e dinheiro alto em jogo
Para o confronto deste sábado (28), o Palmeiras tem como objetivo findar um curto jejum diante do Glorioso. Nos últimos cinco jogos realizados entre os dois times, o Glorioso venceu três e empatou outros dois. O triunfo mais recente dos paulistas ocorreu em novembro de 2023. Em 2024, além de sucumbir na briga pelo título do Brasileirão, os comandados de Abel Ferreira foram eliminados pelo Botafogo nas oitavas de final da Libertadores.
Além da classificação às quartas de final, o duelo brasileiro no Mundial de Clubes vale altas cifras em termos de premiação. Quem seguir vivo no torneio embolsa mais R$ 72 milhões em cotas da Fifa. Até o momento, Verdão e Bota faturaram o mesmo índice por desempenho na competição: R$ 148,9 milhões. O montante computa os valores por participação, resultado da fase de grupos e o prêmio pela vaga nas oitavas.
