Leila e Textor trocam camisas e encontram presidente da Fifa durante Palmeiras x Botafogo no Mundial

Durante a partida entre Palmeiras e Botafogo, válida pelas oitavas de final da Copa do Mundo de Clubes — vitória alviverde por 1 a 0 —, Leila Pereira e John Textor se encontraram na Filadélfia (Estados Unidos). Além da aparição pública de dois dirigentes que protagonizaram atritos nos últimos anos, a presidente alviverde e o dono da SAF alvinegra se reuniram com Gianni Infantino, mandatário da Fifa.

Em clima amistoso e de sorrisos, conforme soube o GLOBO, o encontro teve direito a trocas de presentes e camisas de Botafogo e Palmeiras. Atualmente, o clima entre os dois lados é de paz nos bastidores.

No Brasileirão de 2023, o qual o alvinegro liderou grande parte, mas sofreu uma derrocada na reta final e permitiu ao alviverde ser campeão, Textor fez variadas acusações de manipulação de resultados no futebol brasileiro, o que elevou o tom da rivalidade entre os clubes, dentro e fora de campo.

Os episódios envolveram trocas de farpas públicas entre os dirigentes e ações na Justiça. Em julho de 2024, antes da vitória do Botafogo sobre o Palmeiras, pelo Brasileirão, uma torcida organizada do alvinegro pendurou dois bonecos com os rostos de Leila e Ednaldo Rodrigues, ex-presidente da CBF, em uma passarela de um dos acessos ao estádio Nilton Santos. Após a partida, Textor pediu desculpas, mas o clube foi punido pelo STJD em R$ 80 mil.

Porém, já no ano passado, os lados fizeram acenos em prol do clima pacífico. Antes da partida de volta das oitavas de final da Libertadores, no Allianz Parque, dirigentes do Botafogo já haviam encontrado Leila para uma conversa amistosa e troca de presentes. Ao final da temporada, o time carioca conquistou o título sul-americano e o Brasileirão.

Em março deste ano, na primeira rodada da edição do torneio nacional, após elogios mútuos feitos publicamente por Textor e Leila, os dirigentes dos dois clubes fizeram um posicionamento conjunto contra o racismo, antes do jogo em São Paulo.

Com a vitória deste sábado nos EUA, o Palmeiras garantiu vaga nas quartas de final, fase na qual enfrentará Chelsea ou Benfica, às 22h da próxima sexta-feira (4). Já o Botafogo retornará ao Brasil para focar na sequência da temporada.
