Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson is in the news againa and not for his game plays, but for his big spends off the field. As he gets better from a second Achilles injury and stares at a shaky NFL future, Watson is said to be using a good bit out of his $230 million deal on a big wedding to his long-time love, influencer Jilly Anais.
Reports say Watson has spent $2.5 million on a ring, described by his jeweler as featuring a flawless D-grade center diamond with exceptional clarity and cut. The pair has also shown off their fancy engagement pics, with one featuring a yellow Ferrari, and had big pre-wedding bashes that have won both praise and shade.

A quarterback in trouble
Watson’s big spending comes at a tough time in his career. After landing a huge deal with the Browns in 2022, he has played in only 19 games over three years, missing out a lot due to bans and injuries. Most lately, he hurt his foot again, keeping him out for all of 2025. Meanwhile, the Browns have looked hard for a steady QB, trading for Kenny Pickett and looking at other picks.
Is it just show-off?
Watson’s fancy life goes beyond his wedding. He’s known to gift pricey watches, like Rolexes, to his team, coaches, and kin. He recently gave his brother a Rolex when he asked him to be his best man, keeping up with an old habit from his days with the Houston Texans.
While some fans love his kind heart and close ties, others doubt the look of his big spends with his small game plays and the Browns‘ tough times. Some think that showing off cash during career lows, with a deal dirty impregnated of debate, can seem out of touch.

Watson’s wedding and life choices are his own, but they get a lot of looks because of his big-time, fully guaranteed deal. For now, he stays a split sight-loved by some for his faithful heart, and slammed by others for what looks like financial recklessness.

His Achilles record
Watson’s first right Achilles tendon injury was in October 2024 while playing a game against the Cincinnati Bengals. He underwent surgery and started to get better, aiming to come back for the 2025 season. But, in a big let-down, Watson suffered the same Achilles injury again during rehab, needing a new surgery in January 2025.
This second tear has made his way back harder. Some think he could get better in seven months, which may let him play in the late part of the season if things go well. But most who know this game think Watson will likely sit out all of the 2025 season.
