A Fórmula 1 anunciou neste domingo (29) a renovação contratual com o Grande Prêmio da Áustria. A prova será mantida no calendário até a temporada 2041. Em entrevista concedida ao site oficial da categoria, o CEO do campeonato, Stefano Domenicali, celebrou o acordo.
“A Áustria tem sido uma corrida incrivelmente especial para a Fórmula 1, então é fantástico termos garantido o futuro de longo prazo de um Grande Prêmio tão profundamente enraizado na história do esporte”, disse.
Histórico do GP da Áustria na Fórmula 1
De acordo com informações oficiais, a história do GP da Áustria no torneio começou em 1964, mas o atual circuito da prova, Red Bull Ring, sediou a corrida pela primeira vez no ano 1970.
A etapa saiu do calendário em 2004, mas retornou em 2014 após o falecido empresário e fundador da Red Bull, Dietrich Mateschitz, financiar obras que desenvolveram as instalações do palco esportivo.
“A visão e a paixão de Dietrich Mateschitz deram à corrida o investimento e a atenção que permitiram que ela retornasse como um evento incrível no calendário da Fórmula 1. A cada ano, retornar às deslumbrantes montanhas da Estíria é um momento marcante, uma experiência que evoca emoções incríveis entre nossos pilotos, equipes e fãs, criando uma atmosfera diferente de qualquer outra”, prosseguiu Domenicali.
O gerente geral do circuito Red Bull Ring, Thomas Überall, também falou sobre a renovação de contrato. “Este compromisso de longo prazo da Fórmula 1 é uma grande honra e um desafio maravilhoso que estamos felizes em assumir em nome dos fãs e da região de Murtal”, relatou.
O dirigente também disse que a categoria melhora a economia local. “O novo contrato é de inestimável importância para o futuro. A segurança a longo prazo do GP da Áustria vai impulsionar novos investimentos em infraestrutura e representará um enorme valor”, concluiu.
