Hamann sagt gegenüber der „Mediengruppe Münchner Merkur/tz“, er betrachte das „relativ emotionslos. Natürlich habe ich die Aussagen mitbekommen. Lothar hat ja nur gesagt, dass Stuttgart eine Ablöse jenseits der 60 Millionen Euro aufrufen könnte. Und das kann tatsächlich so sein. Man hört ja aus Stuttgart, dass sie von 100 Mio. sprechen. Den Preis bestimmt nur der VfB – weder Uli noch Lothar.“
[–>Er selbst findet, dass die Summen, die als Ablöse für Woltemade im Gespräch sind, viel zu hoch angesetzt seien: „Woltemade hat zwar eine hervorragende Saison gespielt und auch bei der U21-EM aufgezeigt. Zur Wahrheit gehört aber auch, dass er vergangenen Sommer ablösefrei nach Stuttgart gewechselt ist und nicht mal für die Champions League gemeldet war. Für mich wären selbst 50 Millionen Euro zu viel für ihn. Ich sehe eine Ablöse zwischen 30 und 40 Mio. – und selbst da ist sehr viel Fantasie dabei.“
Matthäus (64) hatte eine mögliche Ablöse in der Höhe von 80 bis 100 Millionen Euro zuletzt öffentlich ins Spiel gebracht – sehr zum Ärger von Uli Hoeneß (73). Bayerns Ehrenpräsident polterte im „Kicker“: „Lothar Matthäus hat nicht alle Tassen im Schrank.“ Matthäus konterte: „Uli Hoeneß lebt in seiner eigenen Welt.“

Auch Sportvorstand Max Eberl (51) reagierte gereizt: „In Verhandlungen einzusteigen und von außen, ohne Interna oder Voraussetzungen zu kennen, die Preise wie auf dem Basar nach oben zu treiben, das gehört sich nicht.“
Die Bayern sind unter Transfer-Druck, nachdem einige Wunsch-Spieler offenbar nicht zu haben sind (Bradley Barcola, Desiré Doué/beide PSG) oder zu einem anderen Klub wechseln wollen (Nico Williams/von Athletic Bilbao zum FC Barcelona, Jamie Gittens/vom BVB zu Chelsea).
