„Jsem nadšený, šťastný, cítím se tu jako doma. Těším se na budoucnost a na to, čeho můžeme společně dosáhnout v domácí soutěži i Lize mistrů,“ řekl Zafeiris v rozhovoru pro slávistický web.
O prodloužení kontraktu měl jasno už před dovolenou. „Rozhodl jsem se ke konci sezony. Bylo pro mě důležité, abych hlavně dál hrál. Jsem tady šťastný, jsem velmi spokojený s tím, čeho jsme dosáhli v minulé sezoně. A chci na to navázat,“ uvedl Zafeiris.
Nezviklal ho ani velký zájem zahraničních klubů. Získat Zafeirise chtěl mimo jiné Olympiakos, kterého čeká, stejně jako Slavii, skupinová fáze Ligy mistrů. Údajně měl do Prahy poslat nabídku ve výši pěti milionů eur (přibližně 125 milionů korun). Červenobílí ji měli odmítnout, agilního středopolaře si cení na mnohem vyšší sumu.
Nicméně ani významné navýšení částky by nyní nestačilo. Šéf Slavie Jaroslav Tvrdík před několika dny avizoval, že momentálně je Zafeiris neprodejný. „S Christosem jsme dohodnutí a neprodáme ho za jakoukoli nabídku v tomto přestupním období,“ napsal Tvrdík na sociální síť X.
V Edenu Zafeiris načne svoji čtvrtou sezonu. V té minulé naplno prorazil, patřil mezi důležité hráče Slavie. V rámci všech soutěžích odehrál 43 zápasů. Vstřelil v nich 6 gólů, k nim přidal 4 asistence.
„Moje cesta tady byla plná vzestupů a pádů. Alespoň na začátku, měl jsem pár těžkých období, ale podařilo se mi to překonat,“ těší Zafeirise, který na závěr rozhovoru poslal vzkaz fanouškům Slavie. „Miluju vás! Připravte se na to, co přijde. Doufejme, že v tomto roce zažijeme společně ještě lepší věci.“
