Dodgers vs. Yankees score: Los Angeles hands New York historic blowout loss, clinch interleague series win

Getty Images The Los Angeles Dodgers not only clinched the series win over the New York Yankees on Saturday night, they also handed the visiting Yanks one of their worst losses in franchise history. Coming off an 8-5 win in the opener of the 2024 World Series rematch on Friday, the Dodgers on Saturday ritually dismantled the Yankees 18-2. As Katie Strang points out, never before have the Yankees been so thoroughly beaten by a National League opponent:  Given that interleague play has been around since 1997 and that the Yankees have been a part of 41 World Series, this isn't exactly a small sample of games. In all, it's just the 12th time in franchise history that the Yankees have lost a game by 16 or more runs and the first time since a 19-3 loss to the Boston Red […]

UFC Fight Night: Maycee Barber’s health emergency forces last second cancellation to main event

Getty Images What started as a typical introduction to a UFC main event ended in unprecedented and concerning fashion. On Saturday, the usual video package preceding the main event walkouts aired. But the walkouts never happened. Instead, the scheduled UFC Fight Night main event between Erin Blanchfield and Maycee Barber was canceled. Immediately after the video package aired, UFC commentator Brendan Fitzgerald informed the broadcast audience that the walkouts were on hold. "Maycee Barber and Erin Blanchfield, will they fight?" Fitzgerald asked cageside at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. "We don't know." After a commercial break, Fitzgerald informed television viewers that the fight was canceled due to a medical issue with Barber. UFC reporter Megan Olivia caught up with Blanchfield, who was told that Barber suffered a seizure. "She was having a seizure and having medical issues," Blanchfield said, claiming the information […]

What’s next for Knicks? New York has one fundamental roster flaw, and this offseason will focus on fixing it

Getty Images If you want to know why the New York Knicks couldn't beat the Indiana Pacers in their 125-108 Game 6 loss -- or in the Eastern Conference finals in general -- you probably have to go back to the summer of 2022. That was when they made their landmark acquisition of Jalen Brunson, of course, but he wasn't the only significant free agent they signed in that offseason. Using the cap room that remained after signing Brunson, New York also added a little-known backup center named Isaiah Hartenstein on a two-year, $16 million deal. The structure of that contract was ultimately what doomed New York.Brunson became the face of the franchise, but Hartenstein was its spine. The Brunson offense, driven by his one-on-one brilliance, was not inherently efficient. New York ranked No. 4 in offense in 2023 and No. […]

Fantasy Baseball Week 11 Preview: Two-start pitcher rankings feature Tanner Bibee, George Kirby

Each weekend, Scott White ranks the two start pitchers for the upcoming scoring period and then categorizes them by how usable they are. The names depicted here are highly speculative and subject to change. One of the most common ways they change is with the addition of a spot starter when a team is scheduled to play six games in a row. It doesn't always happen, but it happens often enough that I'm taking the extra step this year of pointing out which of the two-start pitchers is scheduled for Tuesday and Sunday in the upcoming scoring period since they're the most likely to lose out in such a scenario. Below are the two-start pitchers for Fantasy Week 11 (June 2-8), with the most questionable (Tuesday/Sunday in a seven-game week) being Pablo Lopez, Shane Smith, Landen Roupp, Clayton Kershaw and Jacob […]
