CowboysCountry.com reported months ago that Micah Parsons and the Dallas Cowboys had been in talks to stay together for more years and that, until then, the contract issue was not a problem. However, this week new information has emerged, with data indicating an obstacle in the renewal of the defensive end.
NFL Network reporter Tom Pelissero said that Parsons and the Dallas Cowboys know the “type of contract” that will be signed in terms of average annual value. The team must be very careful in how it handles things with Parsons, as keeping him happy could be beneficial to the team heading into the next NFL season.

What obstacle exists in Micah Parsons’ renewal with the Cowboys?
Parsons is interested in signing a lengthy five-year contract worth around $40 million per season, totaling $200 million that would make him the highest-paid player in history, even if he were not a quarterback.
Parsons has explained this to Jerry Jones, owner of the Dallas Cowboys, who has publicly acknowledged that both parties agree on many aspects. We don’t think it makes sense for Dallas to turn down a five-year contract, if that’s what Micah wants.
Micah Parsons’ possible departure from the Dallas Cowboys:
Parsons seems to be the kind of player who would leave if the Cowboys don’t close a deal with him before he hits free agency. With four Pro Bowl selections, three All-Pro designations and much more throughout his career, Parsons has been as good as it gets.
Last season, he recorded 12 sacks, the fewest of his career. With 52.5 total sacks and as the leader of a Cowboys defense that needs to improve, losing him would be the worst possible scenario. Even making him angry would not be ideal, so Jones and the rest of the front office need to start working on a contract as soon as possible.
