O embate entre Palmeiras e Chelsea, agendado para esta sexta-feira (04), às 22h (de Brasília), pelas quartas de final do Mundial de Clubes já possui a equipe de arbitragem de campo definida, e o árbitro principal, Alireza Fagnini, é velho conhecido da seleção brasileira, tendo sido responsável por comandar o jogo de estreia dos comandados de Tite contra a Sérvia, na Copa do Mundo de 2022.
O profissional foi escalado pela Fifa para o confronto no Lincoln Financial Field, e terá os compatriotas Anton Shchetinin e Ashley Beecham como auxiliares. Ilgiz Tantashev e Andrey Tsapenko, dupla do Uzbesquitão, irá figurar como quarto e quinto árbitros, respectivamente. O responsável pelo VAR no jogo decisivo do Mundial ainda não foi divulgado, algo que deve ser confirmado pela entidade brevemente.
Árbitro tem carreira sólida
Alireza Faghani é bastante conhecido no futebol europeu, acumulando arbitragens nas Copas de 2018, na Rússia, e no Catar, em 2022. Além disso, o profissional iraniano-australiano tem bagagem em edições de Jogos Olímpicos, bem como partidas da Copa da Ásia e finais continentais entre clubes, estando no quadro da Fifa desde 2008.
A arbitragem sempre foi algo intrínseco na família de Alireza, que teve o pai, Monhammad Faghani, e o irmão caçula Mohammadreza, exercendo a função. Quando jovem, ele ainda chegou a se aventurar como jogador, atuando pela Liga 2 do Irã , o equivalente à terceira divisão do futebol iraniano. Em 2007, ele no entanto, resolveu seguir uma nova carreira, se notabilizando em seu país.
Palmeiras e Chelsea têm desfalques
Para o duelo que marca o reencontro entre os dois times depois de três anos, os técnicos Abel Ferreira e Enzo Maresca terão problemas, principalmente o comandante palestrino. Além de Murilo, que se lesionou e não joga mais no torneio, o Palmeiras não irá contar com Gustavo Gómez e Piquerez, atletas que cumprem suspensão automática após serem advertidos contra o Botafogo. Micael e Vanderlan serão os substitutos.
Do lado dos londrinos, Caicedo, uma das referências da equipe, acabou sendo punido com cartão amarelo diante do Benfica, e está fora do jogo. Por outro lado, os europeus terão o retorno de Nicolas Jackson, que cumpriu suspensão após ser expulso contra o Flamengo, e vão relacionar o jovem João Pedro, contratação brasileira anunciada nesta semana.
