Putnam, 36, started on the back nine and carded a double-bogey at the par-4 18th hole before pulling out.
He was 3-over for his round after opening with an even-par 71 on Thursday at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill.
Putnam won his lone PGA Tour title at the 2018 Barracuda Championship. His best finish this season was a T6 at the RBC Canadian Open last month.

Olympijský šampion a mistr světa v rychlostní kanoistice Brendel ukončil kariéru
„Byly to neuvěřitelné časy. Moc si vážím toho, jakou jsem měl kariéru. Za 25 let závodění jsem byl mnohokrát na vrcholu, ale zažil jsem i pády. A všechno si to budu pamatovat do konce života,“ napsal Brendel, který během kariéry celkem získal 59 medailí.Na olympiádě v Londýně triumfoval v singlu na kilometru a zlato o čtyři roky později v Riu de Janeiro obhájil. V Brazílii přidal ještě vítězství v C2 a na hrách v Tokiu před čtyřmi lety v deblkanoi získal bronz.Na mistrovství světa Brendel získal 13 zlatých, osm stříbrných a pět bronzových medailí. Dalších 14 titulů přidal na mistrovství Evropy.
