De volta ao Brasil, em seu avião particular, ela fez um agradecimento ao elenco, tircida e também às mulheres “que se sentiram representadas por ela”.
Ela escreveu: “Não poderia deixar de agradecer a todas as mulheres que se sentiram representadas por mim nesta Copa do Mundo de Clubes onde, dentre 32 clubes participantes a Presidente do Palmeiras era a única mulher. Trata – se de uma conquista de todas nós mulheres. Tenho certeza que estou abrindo as portas para vocês neste mundo que até pouco tempo atrás pertencia aos homens”.
Leila disse ainda que “foram dias intensos de muito trabalho e dedicação. Não fomos passear nos Estados Unidos”. Agradeceu aos torcedores “que estiveram acompanhando nossos jogos nos Estados Unidos e também os que estiveram torcendo de todos os lugares do Brasil e do mundo”. E ao elenco que, “Não tenham dúvidas que todos fizeram o máximo. Fizemos o melhor que poderia ser feito”.
Durante a competição, Leila chamou a atenção da imprensa mundial justamente por ser a única mulher na presidência de um clube de futebol. Foi a dirigente que mais deu entrevistas exclusivas para os jornalistas credenciados. Nem mesmo em o presidente da Fifa, Gianni Infantino, concedeu tantos depoimentos exclusivos e importantes quanto ela.

No mês de julho, o Palmeiras volta a encarar uma sequência mais intensa de jogos depois de ter um intervalo maior entre os jogos na Copa do Mundo de Clubes. A equipe alviverde tem pela frente mais cinco jogos confirmados. Quatro pelo Brasileirão e um pela Copa do Brasil.
O primeiro compromisso após o Mundial está marcado para o dia 16 de julho, contra o Mirassol, pela 14ª rodada do Brasileiro, às 19 horas (de Brasília), no Allianz Parque. Inicialmente, antes disso, há um duelo contra o Santos mas sem detalhes definidos. Em seguida, enfrenta Atlético-MG, Fluminense e Grêmio, nos dias 20, 23 e 26, e, por fim, o Corinthians, na ida das oitavas da Copa do Brasil.
