Důvod partyzánské akce byl prostý. Zápas v Sochocinu, hraný na 4×30 minut, se konal s vyloučením diváků. Byl dostupný pouze úzké skupině lidí z obou klubů. Tento krok vzbudil v Gdyni ostrý nesouhlas, nováčka polské ligy totiž v prvním kole čeká zápas na stadionu Motoru (20. července). Klubový management proto rozhodl o špehování nejbližšího soupeře.
Od chvíle, kdy se dron objevil nad hlavami hráčů, rozjeli zástupci obou klubů pátrací akci na odhalení jeho obsluhy. Záhy byli úspěšní. V nedalekém lese narazili na muže s ovládacím zařízením. Ukázalo se, že šlo o člena štábu Archy, který utkání nelegálně natáčel.

Zveřejnění informace o špehovací akci Arky strhlo na polských sociálních sítích negativní bouři. Web Motoru ji ale vzal poměrně s nadhledem, směrem k rivalovi vyslal několik ironických vět.
„Hej, Arko, máme tady něco od vás. Volejte. Ale nebojte, vašeho létajícího trenéra vám vrátíme zdravého,“ stojí u fotky dronu, kterou Motor umístil na svůj web. „Nebo si ho můžete vyzvednout na tiskové konferenci po prvním kole. Jo, a vašemu zvědovi jsme věnovali telefon, aby při zpáteční cestě do Gdyně nezabloudil. Každopádně je velká hanba, co jste udělali,“ přisadil si na síti X Michał Szprendałowicz, ředitel marketingu a komunikace lublinského klubu.
Polsko řešilo podobnou událost už před rokem, kdy tehdejší trenér Legie Goncalo Feio obvinil ze špehování drony Raków. Ten následně označil toto obvinění za nemístnou provokaci.
