The American came into Wimbledon looking for a spell of good form after being dumped out of Queen’s in the first round by qualifier Corentin Moutet and also suffering early exits at the Australian Open and French Open.

Fritz is yet to land a Grand Slam title after coming close in 2024 when he reached the final of the US Open. His best result at Wimbledon was reaching last year’s quarterfinal, which he also did in 2022.

With nine career titles including a 2022 Indian Wells title in his home tournament, Fritz has shown he has what it takes to win majors — even if they have evaded him thus far.

He’s now going to face Karen Khachanov (17) in the round of 16 after today’s opponent, Australian Jordan Thompson. pulled out due to injury on No. 1 Court.

Can he reach another last-eight tie here and equal his best ever run at Wimbledon?
