A Europa redescobre as Américas no Mundial de Clubes

A Copa do Mundo de Clubes tem estranhos efeitos sobre a gente. Na fase de grupos, muitos toleraram uma torcida tímida para outros times brasileiros, que não os próprios, contra europeus. Essa estranhice acabou, e agora está cheio de flamenguista, botafoguense e vascaíno com de medo de ver o Fluminense campeão mundial. Eu, aqui, no meu casco profissional, venho sofrendo de outro mal inesperado: queria que ouvissem mais dirigentes.

Dias atrás, antes de o Bayern de Munique ser eliminado pelo Paris Saint-Germain, o CEO do clube alemão chegou aos Estados Unidos para assistir à partida com os franceses e deu entrevista à televisão do país dele. Jan-Christian Dressen disse que, antes do dinheiro das premiações, que todo mundo tanto fala, a Copa era importante pelo aspecto esportivo. “Este é o primeiro Mundial de Clubes de verdade. Este é algo que vai durar, não é um evento isolado.”

Antes que todos os campeões mundiais se ofendam, entendam o argumento do gringo. Diante das inúmeras críticas que partem do Velho Continente contra a nova competição, ele quer engrandecer o lugar que ela ocupa na História, com “agá” maiúsculo. Ele disse que todos sabem do Uruguai como primeiro campeão mundial, da Copa de 1930. Todos saberão do time a vencer a Copa de Clubes, em 2025, momento tão relevante quanto.

A Europa descobriu o resto do mundo, mais de 500 anos depois das terras, futebolisticamente falando. Só agora, o que é uma vergonha para eles. Mas a cultura é como ela é. Noutro trecho da mesma entrevista, Dressen disse assim: “Os sul-americanos celebram seus times, os brasileiros se orgulham. Nós, na Alemanha, precisamos finalmente reconhecer que não vivemos sozinhos neste planeta. Há uma família do futebol aqui na América também.”

Frases assim saem da boca de um dirigente do Bayern de Munique — motivo pelo qual conclamo para que se ouçam mais cartolas nos Estados Unidos —, porque talvez seja a única figura no mercado com motivo para mostrar o outro lado da moeda para o público europeu. De resto, só tem pau e pedra.

O técnico Jürgen Klopp, hoje diretor da Red Bull, disse que a Copa de Clubes é a pior ideia já implementada no futebol. Assim como ele, outros treinadores vão se posicionar assim, em particular aqueles que não disputam a competição. Legitimamente, eles estão preocupados com o inchaço do calendário. Mas é a Copa, a cada quatro anos, o problema? E o Boxing Day, que faz a Inglaterra jogar em pleno Natal? E as turnês de amistosos mundo afora? E o resto?

A Uefa resolveu só agora fazer um sério estudo sobre a sobrecarga dos atletas. As ligas de clubes, comercialmente ameaçadas, pressionam a Fifa para participar da discussão. Javier Tebas, chefe da LaLiga, avisou que fará de tudo para acabar com a Copa. Atrás de todos esses movimentos, há interesses abalados. E, no caso da imprensa inglesa e seus chiliques, é só reacionarismo. Acham-se o centro do mundo mesmo após o “descobrimento” do restante dele.

O Fluminense já fez História ao bater as semifinais. Todos que não forem tricolores torcerão contra, não necessariamente a favor do Chelsea, pois dessa esquisitice não sofremos mais. Mas uma nova história começou, gostem dela os ingleses ou não. Os cartolas já estão cientes.
