Nach den deutschen Frauen (SPORT BILD berichtete) gewinnen auch die DHB-Beach-Boys ihr erstes Spiel bei der Beachhandball-EM in der Türkei. In Alanya besiegt die Mannschaft von Bundestrainer Marten Franke (29) Tschechien klar mit 2:0 (24:14 und 26:10).
Der Jubel ist groß. Denn nach Platz 4 bei der WM 2024 und Silber bei der EM 2023 wollen die DHB-Jungs wieder um die Medaillen mitspielen. Da kommt so ein Auftaktsieg gerade recht.

Die Stimmung in der Nationalmannschaft (die meisten Spieler kommen aus unterklassigen Ligen und Hallenteams, aber alle spielen in speziellen Beachteams regelmäßig um die Deutsche Meisterschaft) ist prima. Vorsicht ist nur beim Frühstück in der Türkei geboten. Denn wer in Badelatschen zum Essen kommt, muss sofort in die Teamkasse blechen!

Kapitän Robin John (33) erklärt SPORT BILD und schmunzelt: „Unser Trainer Marten Franke hat da eine strenge Kleiderordnung beim Essen vorgegeben. Er besteht auf festem Schuhwerk bei den Mahlzeiten. Da wir permanent in Badelatschen rumlaufen, werden die festen Schuhe beim Frühstück gern mal vergessen, da freut sich dann unser Kassenwart auf die nächsten 5 Euro.“

Im Spiel gegen die Tschechen haben die Deutschen gar keine Probleme. Torhüter Oliver Middell (29/spielt sonst in der Oberliga bei USV Halle) vernagelt die Kiste und vorn schraubt die Angriffsreihe die Tore ein. Dazu blockt Severin Henrich die Tschechen-Angreifer zur Verzweiflung.

Das zweite Spiel steigt direkt noch am gleichen Tag, Dienstag (19 Uhr live bei Dyn/Anzeige), da treffen die deutschen Männer auf die Türkei. Robin John: „Gegen den Gastgeber zu spielen ist immer etwas Besonderes. Wir wollen das Spiel natürlich genießen, hoffen auf viele Zuschauer auf dem Center Court und wir wollen versuchen, diesen Center Court ein bisschen zum Schweigen zu bringen.“

In the wake of the Phoenix Suns trading Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets, numerous reports have indicated that Beal and the franchise are nearing a buyout, with the three-time All-Star having two seasons remaining on a five-year, $251 million deal.Beal is coming off a discouraging season.
