O técnico Abel Ferreira está no Palmeiras desde 2020 e já se tornou o treinador com mais títulos pelo Verdão, tendo dez conquistas ao todo, vencendo torneios importantes, como duas Libertadores, dois Brasileiros, entre outros. Com isso, tem muito prestígio no clube, principalmente com a presidente Leila Pereira, que gostaria de renovar com o português até 2027, oferecendo um aumento salarial.
Porém, Abel vive sua maior “seca” de títulos, já que sua última conquista foi o Paulistão de 2024. Ano passado, o time caiu nas oitavas de final da Libertadores e Copa do Brasil, além de ter sido vice-campeão Brasileiro. Já em 2025, perdeu a decisão do estadual para o Corinthians e caiu nas quartas de final no Mundial de Clubes. Diante deste cenário, o jornalista Jorge Nicola informou que alguns conselheiros entendem que o treinador está devendo e merece mais cobrança.
“Até aliados importantes na política palmeirense estão cobrando Leila Pereira. Há um entendimento dentro do Verdão de que Abel Ferreira anda muito confortável com toda a comodidade que a presidente lhe garante”, disse o jornalista em seu canal no Youtube, explicando o sentimento de alguns conselheiros, que acreditam ser o melhor elenco que o treinador tem à disposição desde que chegou, mas a entrega não é mais a mesma de outros tempos.

Depois, Nicola garante que essa pressão dos conselheiros é apenas por uma cobrança maior da presidente em relação ao treinador, mas que não há nenhum movimento para pedir a saída de Abel Ferreira ou algo parecido. Essa cobrança passa muito pelo alto investimento que foi feito no elenco para essa temporada.
Só em contratações, o Verdão gastou cerca de R$ 430 milhões em 2025 e não deve parar por ai. O clube vai atrás de mais reforços para o segundo semestre. Um deles é o paraguaio Ramón Sosa, que está praticamente tudo certo, custando cerca de R$ 90 milhões, o que já ultrapassaria os R$ 500 milhões em reforços. Para 2025, o Alviverde trouxe Bruno Fuchs, Micael, Martínez, Evangelista, Facundo Torres, Paulinho e Vitor Roque.
Próximo jogo do Palmeiras
O Palmeiras volta a campo no dia 16 de julho, às 19h, diante do Mirassol, no Allianz Parque, pela 14ª rodada do Campeonato Brasileiro. O seu jogo da 13ª rodada, que seria contra o Santos, foi adiado, visando um período maior de descanso para o Alviverde após a disputa do Mundial de Clubes. Com isso, o Verdão ficará com dois jogos a menos em relação a maioria dos times.
Atualmente em quarto lugar na competição, com 22 pontos, o Palmeiras se prepara também para as partidas decisivas nas copas, que acontecem nas próximas semanas. Ainda este mês, o time encara o Corinthians, pelas oitavas de final da Copa do Brasil. Em agosto, o time comandado por Abel Ferreira enfrenta o Universitario-PER, pelo mata-mata da Libertadores.
