Německý tým v prvním poločase dvakrát zklamal verdikt videorozhodčího. Ten nejprve kvůli ofsajdu odvolal úvodní gól Klary Bühlové a posléze i pokutový kop za ruku, jelikož prohřešek se odehrál mimo pokutové území. Mezitím navíc poslala Dánky v 26. minutě do vedení Amalie Vangsgaardová.

Po změně stran ale VAR už další penaltový zákrok potvrdil a Sjoeke Nüskenová vyrovnala. Lea Schüllerová pak v 66. minutě zápas rozhodla.
