Evropská fotbalová federace původně v únoru udělila klubu pokutu 35 tisíc eur a uzavřela mu sektory 106 a 107 na nejbližší duel mezinárodních zápasů. Finanční postih nově snížila na 20 tisíc eur (v přepočtu půl milionu korun), ale ponechala zavřenou část Tribuny Sever, kde se soustředí nejhlučnější příznivci sešívaných.
Jedná se o dozvuk propíraného prosincového duelu, po němž belgický soupeř nařkl Tomáše Chorého z rasismu. Reprezentační útočník i Slavia od počátku jakýkoli rasismus odmítala. UEFA nenašla důkaz, ale s odstupem několika týdnů potrestala klub za rasistické projevy fanoušků.
Disciplinárce vadilo i blokování veřejných průchodů na stadionu, házení předmětů na hřiště a nevhodný pokřik.
Protože Slavia už v zimě vypadla z evropských soutěží, trest si odpyká v nové sezoně, v níž si díky domácímu titulu zahraje skupinovou fázi Ligy mistrů. Program i konkrétního soupeře se dozví po losu ligové fáze, který se koná koncem srpna.
Úvodní kolo nejslavnější evropské soutěže je na programu v polovině září.
Slavia nebude mít zavřenou část hlediště kvůli chování diváků poprvé. V dubnu 2019 hrála očekávané čtvrtfinále Evropské ligy proti Chelsea dokonce se třemi prázdnými sektory, jelikož UEFA vršovickému klubu napařila flastr za výtržnosti fanoušků, kteří v předchozím duelu s Genkem vhazovali předměty na hřiště.
