Das Tennis-Märchen geht leider nicht weiter!
Laura Siegemund (37) verpasst die nächste Sensation und damit beim Grand-Slam-Turnier in Wimbledon das Halbfinale gaaanz knapp! Sie verliert gegen die haushohe Favoritin Aryna Sabalenka (27/Belarus) 6:4, 2:6, 4:6.
Es ist ein wahres Tennis-Drama!
Es ist so knapp. Dass sie gegen die Nummer 1 der Welt das Match bis zum Schluss offenhalten kann, ist schon eine riesige Überraschung. Dass sie am Ende nicht gewinnt, ist einfach nur schade. Sie hätte es sich verdient.
Vor den Augen der Schauspiel-Stars Jodie Foster (62) und Sienna Miller (43) gelingt der Außenseiterin ein Fabel-Start. Nach zwei Breaks führt sie 3:0 und kann die Angriffe Sabalenkas immer wieder kontern. So holt sich die Schwäbin den ersten Satz 6:4.

Danach scheint die Partie aber die gewohnte Bahn zu nehmen. Der dreimaligen Grand-Slam-Siegerin gelingt ein 2:0-Schnellstart. Aber der Kampfgeist von Siegemund ist nicht gebrochen, sie holt sich das Aufschlagspiel zurück. Aber Sabalenka gibt kein Spiel mehr ab und holt sich den Satz mit 6:2.
Hat sich Siegemund etwa nur eine Pause genommen? Irre, wie sie in den entscheidenden Satz wirbelt. Schnelles Break, 3:1 vorn. Das Publikum tobt. Und bringt Sabalenka zurück ins Spiel. Die Favoritin gleicht wieder aus.
Der Schlagabtausch erreicht nun seinen Siedepunkt. Erneutes Break von Siegemund, aber Sabalenka holt sich das Aufschlagspiel zurück und hat schließlich den längeren Atem.

Neben 463.000 Euro Preisgeld springt die Schwäbin in der Weltrangliste von Platz 104 auf Rang 54. Damit wird sie ab Montag wieder Deutschlands Nummer 2 hinter der gleichaltrigen Tatjana Maria sein, die mit Position 41 so weit vorn geführt wird wie noch nie in ihrer Karriere.
Ganz nebenbei ist Siegemund nun Mitglied des Last Eight Club. Dem gehören die Sieler an, die wann auch immer im Viertelfinale von Wimbledon standen. Sie bekommen lebenslang Einlass und Karten sowie einen eigenen Bereich auf der Anlage garantiert.
