Denílson, ao falar do São Paulo, aproveitou o gancho do Mundial para enaltecer uma das maiores influências do clube em relação ao futebol brasileiro. Isso porque, segundo o ex-jogador, o sucesso constante na Libertadores fez com que os rivais também buscassem dominar o continente. Neste cenário, consequentemente, vencer os europeus na disputa seguinte também virou uma obsessão.
“A história do São Paulo está aí. A gente não precisa ficar falando da história do São Paulo. Os outros clubes, que passaram a valorizar Libertadores e Mundial, o São Paulo foi quem abriu essa porta. É a lembrança que eu tenho. Quando eu voltei ao Brasil e vi essa paixão pela Libertadores… eu só tinha visto isso em 90 com o São Paulo voando e indo atrás da Libertadores e do Mundial. Hoje é o desejo.”, disse Denílson, ao podcast “Tricolaços”, no canal Arnaldo e Tironi.
Tricampeão mundial, o São Paulo não conseguiu vaga na primeira edição da Copa do Mundo de Clubes da Fifa. Ao citar uma grande frustração em outros gigantes do futebol brasileiro, Denílson enxerga que, diante das conquistas do passado, a ausência nos Estados Unidos foi bastante sentida no Tricolor.
“Os clubes do primeiro escalação que não estiveram na Copa do Mundo de Clubes, eles morderam as costas. A verdade é essa. São Paulo, Corinthians, Santos, Grêmio, Internacional, Atlético-MG… os clubes do primeiro escalação? Mordendo as costas. A verdade é essa. Eu duvido que o São Paulo não queria estar vivendo isso lá.”, prosseguiu.
Eliminação do Palmeiras
Além do São Paulo, Denílson possui um carinho declarado envolvendo o Palmeiras. Reagindo à eliminação contra o Chelsea, nas quartas de final, o comentarista acredita que o vacilo associado ao segundo gol teve um grande impacto na sequência da partida. Mesmo assim, a participação dos brasileiros ganhou elogios do pentacampeão.
“Sobre a eliminação, fica um gosto bem amargo. O Palmeiras estava bem em campo, mas aí acontece o gol contra, já na reta final. Ficou praticamente impossível de fazer um outro gol. Por causa desse gol contra, ficou um sabor que dava para ter esticado um pouco mais a partida. Mas é parabenizar os times brasileiros. Todos representaram bem o futebol brasileiro.”, externou.
Denílson rechaça status de ídolo no São Paulo
Protagonista de uma negociação histórica, Denílson considera que, sem títulos de peso, não detém o posto de ídolo do São Paulo. Em relação ao carinho dos torcedores, o ex-jogador possui total noção da consequência natural ao vestir a camisa do Palmeiras e, fora dos gramados, defender o time alviverde.
“Eu não me considero ídolo do São Paulo. Eu não ganhei nada para ser considerado ídolo. Eu posso ter o respeito do torcedor por esse motivo de ter deixado um dinheiro, ter sido campeão paulista contra um dos maiores rivais, que é o Corinthians. Para se tornar ídolo, precisa ganhar títulos de expressão. Eu sinto que eu tenho o respeito do são-paulino. Não sei se é do tamanho que eu tinha antes do episódio do Palmeiras. Eu tenho o respeito do torcedor, mas não quanto eu tinha antes do episódio do Palmeiras.”, indicou.
