„Wimbledon bude mít v mém srdci vždycky zvláštní místo. Po šestiměsíční pauze kvůli zranění zad jsem se vrátila s cílem jednoduše vkročit na trávu a zvládnout první kolo. To se mi povedlo. A začala jsem se zase cítit víc sama sebou,“ začala Krejčíková svůj vzkaz.

Jenže ve třetím kole devětadvacetiletá Češka, která obhajovala na londýnské trávě loňský titul z dvouhry, prohrála s nasazenou desítkou Američankou Emmou Navarrovou 6:2, 3:6, 4:6. V závěru utkání měla zdravotní potíže, které připisovala špatně načasovanému stravování.

„Cítila jsem se psychicky skvěle, ale během zápasu moje tělo prostě přestalo reagovat. Nejdřív jsem si myslela, že jsem jedla příliš brzy, ale nic nepomáhalo, ani během zápasu. Později jsem zjistila, že to byla virová infekce, která mě na několik dní připoutala k posteli,“ vysvětlila Krejčíková důvody, proč pak odstoupila i ze čtyřhry.

Zkušená tenistka je přesto podle svých slov hrdá, jak daleko se dostala a na bojovnost, kterou se prezentovala při návratu po zranění.

„Jsem také vděčná za lásku a energii od wimbledonského publika a fanoušků. Jste opravdu úžasní. Uvidíme se příští rok, Wimbledone,“ dodala Krejčíková.
