O atacante Pedro Neto, do Chelsea, revelou após a classificação para a final do Mundial de Clubes da FIFA que o Flamengo foi o adversário brasileiro mais difícil enfrentado pela equipe inglesa. Em entrevista na zona mista, o jogador valorizou o desempenho dos três clubes sul-americanos, mas destacou a vitória rubro-negra como a mais marcante.
O Chelsea, que bateu Palmeiras e Fluminense no mata-mata, foi derrotado pelo Mengão na fase de grupos. “Sem dúvida, três equipes com muita qualidade. O Flamengo acabou por nos ganhar, o resultado falou por si”, afirmou Pedro Neto.
A fala do atacante português chama atenção porque o Chelsea venceu os dois duelos eliminatórios, enquanto sofreu justamente diante do Rubro-Negro, no segundo jogo da fase de grupos, quando perdeu por 3 a 1 na Filadélfia. Na ocasião, os ingleses jogaram com um jogador a menos durante parte do segundo tempo, o que dificultou a reação.
Chelsea superou Palmeiras e Fluminense na sequência
Apesar do revés para o Flamengo, os Blues conseguiram avançar como líderes do grupo e cresceram nas fases seguintes. Nas quartas de final do Mundial de Clubes, o time inglês eliminou o Palmeiras por 2 a 1 em uma partida equilibrada. Já na semifinal, mostrou solidez defensiva e bateu o Fluminense por 2 a 0, garantindo vaga na grande decisão do torneio.
Pedro Neto marcou um dos gols do Chelsea contra o Flamengo e celebrou a experiência de enfrentar equipes brasileiras. “Foi a primeira vez que joguei contra times do Brasil e foram logo três. Aprendi muito. São equipes de alto nível”, destacou o atacante, que vem sendo um dos destaques da equipe inglesa ao longo da campanha.

Entre os três adversários brasileiros enfrentados pelo Chelsea, o Flamengo foi o único que conseguiu sair com a vitória. O confronto aconteceu na segunda rodada da fase de grupos, na Filadélfia, e terminou com o placar de 3 a 1 a favor do time carioca. A partida marcou também a única derrota dos ingleses até aqui no torneio.
Apesar do resultado positivo, o Flamengo acabou eliminado nas oitavas de final ao perder para o Bayern de Munique por 4 a 2. Já o Chelsea avançou à fase final, superando o Palmeiras nas quartas de final e o Fluminense na semifinal.

Agora, o Chelsea aguarda o vencedor do confronto entre Real Madrid e Paris Saint-Germain, que acontece nesta quarta-feira (9), para saber quem será o adversário na final do Mundial de Clubes da FIFA. A decisão está marcada para o próximo domingo, às 16h (de Brasília), em Nova Jersey. “Final não se joga, se ganha. Vamos respeitar quem vier, mas o foco será em nós mesmos”, afirmou Pedro Neto.
