Bournemouth are advanced in talks with Chelsea over the signing of goalkeeper Djorde Petrovic.
A deal is not yet agreed but there is growing optimism one will be struck as Bournemouth look to sign a new No 1 following Kepa Arrizabalaga’s return to Chelsea and subsequent sale to Arsenal.
Petrovic was given the green light to find himself a club over the next month, with a gentleman’s agreement reported in July between Chelsea and the 25-year-old that he could leave for a fee in the region of £25million.

The Serbia international wants to be assured of a starting role and, with Chelsea unable to promise him that, he had been exploring his options.
Chelsea are also in talks over the potential £8m sale of left-back Ishe Samuels-Smith to Strasbourg, the Ligue 1 club which is also owned by BlueCo. Samuels-Smith, 19, arrived from Everton for £4m in 2023 but has yet to make a senior appearance.
Petrovic was left out of Chelsea’s Club World Cup squad in early June and had attracted interest from up to five clubs, from the Premier League and elsewhere in Europe.
The Serb was one of several out-of-favour players that returned to training at Chelsea this week who are not in their Club World Cup squad and spent last season out on loan, joining the likes of Joao Felix, Ben Chilwell and Renato Veiga at Cobham.
Petrovic joined Chelsea from MLS side New England Revolution in 2023. He started the 2023-24 season as backup to Robert Sanchez but made the No 1 spot his own after the Spaniard suffered an injury in December, ending the campaign with 31 appearances in all competitions.
Chelsea signed Filip Jorgensen from Villarreal last summer and Petrovic was loaned out to Strasbourg. He played 31 times for Liam Rosenior’s side and was voted as the supporters’ player of the season.
Bournemouth, meanwhile, have seen fellow goalkeeper Neto return from his loan spell at Arsenal, while Everton are interested in a move for Mark Travers.

Petrovic joined Chelsea on a seven-year contract from MLS side New England Revolution in summer 2o23 and made his Premier League debut in December that year, replacing the injured Robert Sanchez in a 2-0 loss to Everton.
He went on to make 22 top flight appearances in 2023-24 but joined Strasbourg – who share a parent company with Chelsea – on loan last summer, helping them to finish seventh in Ligue 1 under English coach Liam Rosenior.
