Leandro Damião, ex-Internacional, continua no futebol. Mas agora em nível amador. O atacante de 35 anos é o novo reforço do Grêmio Recreativo Vila Marlene, time da 1ª Divisão do Campeonato Amador de Jundiaí, interior de São Paulo. As informações são do Jornal de Jundiaí.
“Com essa contratação e dos outros reforços que trouxemos esse ano, a expectativa é gigantesca. Eu estou tratando o título desse ano como uma obsessão”, disse Renan Basílio Alves, vice-presidente e auxiliar técnico da equipe amadora.
O fato é que a chegada de Leandro Damião ao time contou com a ajuda de Pará, ex-lateral direito do Santos, que já joga pelo time do interior de SP.
“O Pará que intermediou a negociação. Ele entrou em contato com o Leandro Damião e de imediato ele demonstrou interesse e gostou muito do projeto apresentado”, completa Renan.
Leandro Damião viveu auge da carreira no Inter
Pelo Internacional, Damião começou nas categorias de base do Colorado, em 2009, subindo ao profissional no ano seguinte. A partir daí, ele começou a se destacar: de 2010 a 2013 ele marcou 88 gols em 177 jogos. Depois, em 2017 e 2018, o jogador participou de 49 jogos anotando 19 gols.
Em termos de títulos, Leandro conquistou a Libertadores de 2010 em um elenco comandado por Celso Roth, e que tinha no elenco, o também atacante Walter. Além da Libertadores, Leandro Damião faturou os títulos do Campeonato Gaúcho (2011, 2012 e 2013) e uma Recopa Sul-Americana (2011).
O currículo de Leandro também conta com passagens por Santos, Bétis, Cruzeiro, Kawasaki Frontale (JAP) e Coritiba. Neste último clube ele, aparentemente, encerrou a carreira em 2024.
Na seleção brasileira, Damião conquistou a medalha de prata nas Olimpíadas de Londres em 2012 onde o Brasil perdeu a decisão para o México.
