Über den 43:28-Sieg seiner Füchse bei Frisch Auf Göppingen: „Ich habe selten eine Mannschaft gesehen, die so inspirationslos gegen uns aufgetreten ist. Da hat wirklich gar nichts gepasst, Göppingen hat mir leidgetan.“
Über den Kampf um den Titel zwischen Berlin, der MT Melsungen und dem SC Magdeburg: „Magdeburg wird nichts mehr abgeben und versuchen, den Druck hochzuhalten. Es ist schon brutal, auch unser Spiel gegen Melsungen (29. Mai, Anmerkung der Redaktion). Der Verlierer spielt nicht in der Champions League, so kann es zumindest laufen. Das ist das Brutalste, was die Liga in den letzten Jahren gesehen hat.“
Über die mögliche erste Meisterschaft mit Berlin: „Ich setze volles Rohr auf die Eins. Das wäre schon ein Lebenstraum.“
Über die Trainer-Rochade beim abstiegsgefährdeten HC Erlangen zwischen Martin Schwalb und Johannes Sellin: „Erlangen ist wieder in diesem Abstiegskampf drin, der Wechsel zurück zu Sellin war ein Glücksfall für Erlangen. Sie wären ja längst durch, wenn sie ihm auch zwischendurch vertraut hätten. Das hatte sie zurückgeworfen, ihn zurückzuholen war eine mutige Entscheidung. Aber eine absolut richtige. Erlangen hat jahrelang keine Kontinuität in gar nichts gehabt.“

Über den Abstiegskampf allgemein: „Stuttgart hat zu viel Qualität. Und jeder weiß, dass ich Bietigheims Trainer Iker Romero wirklich liebe – aber ich habe keine Idee, wie er mit seinen Jungs den Klassenerhalt schaffen soll. Wenn Romero das schafft, dann wird auch mit Österreich Europameister. Bietigheim und Potsdam sind die normalen Absteiger.“
Über die Aussichten der Nationalmannschaft bei der Europameisterschaft: „Ich glaube, dass den Deutschen nichts Besseres passieren konnte, als diese Vorrundengruppe (gegen Österreich, Serbien und Spanien, Anmerkung der Redaktion). Da muss man von Anfang an hellwach sein. Du hast keine Vorrunde, wo du dich reinduddelst. Es wird eine schwere Aufgabe für Deutschland, aber eine wirklich lösbare.“
Über den völlig verrückten Saisonverlauf in der 2. Liga: „Der Bergische HC hat es überragend gemacht. Ich würde dem BHC zutrauen, nächstes Jahr die Klasse zu halten. Bei GWD Minden fehlt auf einmal was, jetzt kommt der Druck dazu, die Selbstverständlichkeit geht verloren. Und jetzt ist auf einmal Hüttenberg da. Trainer Stefan Kneer hat eine Idee von dem, was er da tut. Ich schaue mir Hüttenberg gerne an, weil sie anders spielen mit ihrer aktiven Abwehr. Ich hatte gedacht, der HC Elbflorenz aus Dresden macht das noch. Das ist eine Mannschaft, die immer in die 1. Liga muss. Die sich aber einen Scheißdreck zwischendurch zurecht gespielt hat. Ich lege mich mal fest: Der BHC ist sowieso schon aufgestiegen und Hüttenberg hat das Momentum. Aber unten ist es fast noch spannender, was da in den letzten Wochen abgelaufen ist. Ich schaue ganz viel 2. Liga, weil das richtig Spaß macht.“
