Die deutsche U17-Nationalmannschaft ist bei der Europameisterschaft in Albanien schon in der Vorrunde gescheitert. Im letzten Gruppenspiel gegen Portugal verliert die Mannschaft von Trainer Marc-Patrick Meister mit 1:2 (0:0).
Nur ein Sieg hätte für den Einzug ins Halbfinale gereicht …

Das Turnier begann für Deutschland schon durchwachsen, zum Auftakt setzte es eine 0:3-Niederlage gegen die französische U17-Auswahl. Schlimmer noch: Mittelfeldmann Mussa Kaba (BVB) sah für einen bösen Tritt glatt Rot.
Er fehlte im zweiten Gruppenspiel gegen Gastgeber Albanien – das Deutschland auch ohne den Dortmunder Nachwuchs-Kicker deutlich 4:0 gewann.

Vor der Partie gegen Portugal stand der Endspiel-Charakter fest. Mit dem schlechteren Ende für die deutsche U17.
Trotzdem: Eine Steigerung zum Turnier im Vorjahr, damals hatte sich die Auswahl (als Titelverteidiger) gar nicht erst qualifizieren können.
Denn vor zwei Jahren in Ungarn wurde Deutschland noch Europameister. Damals der gefeierte Held: Paris Brunner (aktuell vom BVB an Cercle Brügge verliehen), der mit 4 Treffern auch zum Torschützenkönig des Turniers avancierte.
Das nächste große Turnier steht aber schon in den Startlöchern. Im November nimmt Deutschland an der U17-Weltmeisterschaft in Katar teil. Trifft dort in der Gruppenphase auf Kolumbien, Nordkorea und El Salvador. Das ergab die Auslosung am Sonntag.
