Das ist ein echtes Tennis-Wunder!
Tatjana Maria (37) holt den größten Titel ihrer Karriere. Im Finale von London besiegt sie die US-Amerikanerin Amanda Anisimova (23) mit 6:3, 6:4. Und das als Qualifikantin!
Danach brachen alle Dämme. Weinend saß sie auf ihrer Bank, nachdem sie Ehemann und Töchter umarmt hatte, konnte nicht fassen, dass ihr in diesem Alter der größte Erfolg ihrer Karriere gelingt.
Bevor sie dieses Jahr zum ersten Mal im Queen’s Club im Stadtteil West Kensington aufschlug, hatte sie neun Niederlagen in Serie in den Knochen. Und dann dieses Tennis-Märchen, bei dem sie eine Favoritin nach der anderen aus dem Weg räumte und zur ältesten Siegerin eines 500-er WTA-Turniers avancierte.

„Es war ein großartiges Turnier, ich habe jede Sekunde genossen, auch wenn meine Tochter erst auf dem Court spielen darf, wenn sie 16 ist“, lacht die Siegerin. Es folgt eine Liebeserklärung an ihre Familie: „In Frankreich ist heute Vatertag! Mein Mann ist ein unglaublicher Coach und Ehemann. Danke, dass du immer an mich glaubst.“ In Richtung ihrer Töchter sagt sie: „Ich liebe euch beide so sehr!“
Marias Familie ist ihr Antrieb. Ehemann Charles-Edouard (51) und die Töchter Charlotte (11) und Cecilia (4) reisen mit ihr um die Welt. Ihr Mann ist auch ihr Trainer, Charlotte will selbst Profi werden. „Ein Champion möchte sie sein“, sagt Tatjana.
Wegen ihr spielt sie noch Tennis. „Ich möchte mit meiner Tochter auf der Tour spielen“, sagt sie. Am liebsten auch im Doppel. Das kann frühestens in drei Jahren soweit sein. „Wegen ihr spiele ich weiter.“ Nur im Billie-Jean-King-Cup für Deutschland schmettern, das wird nichts. Denn Charlotte wird für Frankreich, die Heimat ihres Vaters, spielen.

Das Turnier, die sportliche Traum-Woche ihres Lebens neben dem Wimbledon-Halbfinale 2022. Zuerst erwischte es die Kanadierin Leylah Fernandez (22), US-Open-Finalistin von 2022, dann Karolina Muchova (28/Tschechien), die Nummer 14 der Welt, Jelena Rybakina (25/Kasachstan), Wimbledon-Siegerin 2022, und im Halbfinale Madison Keys (30), die Australien-Open-Gewinnerin.
Und nun Anisimova, die im vergangenen Jahr von Position 190 auf 15 hochschnellte. Maria ist die Nummer 86, wird durch den sensationellen Erfolg, ihr vierter auf der Tour, am Montag auf Rang 43 geführt und löst Eva Lys (23) als Deutschlands Nummer 1 ab.
Ist aber an diesem Sonntag alles egal. Wimbledon kann kommen, vorher will sie in Nottingham ein weiteres Vorbereitungsturnier bestreiten. Da trifft sie zum Auftakt auf Petra Kvitova (35). Die Tschechin gewann gleich zweimal in Wimbledon…
